Woah, cool! I just finished a reading about Yoruba women in colonialism *racks brain* Yeah, about domestic science training started by British missionaries. I'm writing a paper about African women, domesticity and agency during colonialism.

I said it before, but I'll say it again: I like that snowman. Reminds me of you somewhat.

My first time really experimenting with color. Gah, obviously not done yet. Two white spots (apples), the background, the sheets, the glass, etc. all need to be drawn or fixed. But yeah, I plan on finishing it tomorrow in class so I thought I'd go ahead and post it here now.

Haha, idk what it says about me but for the first second I looked at that painting I thought it was a monster with the two red apples on either side of the green one up top being the eyes looking balefully downward and the spiky detailing in the jug as tusks. Total Rorshach moment there.

I'd love to see it finished.

I think it's interesting how you work from part to part on your works, nearly completing each section before you move on to the next (after sketching it in, of course). I haven't seen many people work like that. Is it a perfectionist thing?

If this is your first real project in color, I'm impressed. Are you using Prismacolor?

Thanks. (: I finished it a few days ago, but it's sitting in the school's art studio somewhere right now. I wish I took a picture before I left.

I never noticed. I don't know, it might be a perfectionist thing? Haha, the one I'm working on right now is of two girls, and I haven't even sketched it all out first before completely finishing one of the girl's eyes in color.

Yeah, I'm always afraid of trying new media, tbh. So that was my first one in color. And yes, so far I love Prismacolor.

I was coloring on this online paint program yesterday when I was supposed to be studying:

It was pretty hard to use, tbh. It wasn't smooth enough. Every stroke came out like a straight line, which was aggravating. Eventually I got used to it.

    http://www.scriblink.com/

It's far from my normal style, but it's the best I could do on that piece of shit site. Anyway, despite going a bit overboard with the lines, I thought it looked interesting enough to post. Vitamin water.

    I like it.

It's kind of fun sometimes to see what you can do with normally hard-to-work-with media. It's like a challenge to skill.

I knew a guy once who had a lot of natural talent though he never went to school for it or tried to do anything with it. One time he was sitting near some crayons and paper and started doodling. After a few minutes he just sort of shoved it away and went and did something else. Well, the "doodle" was actually an astoundingly dynamic and movement-filled picture of a charging bull. Not just a sketch, because it was more filled out than that. All in red crayon. *envious sigh*

First, of course - Nice pictures, Cracka! Those light pictures are fun. I should dig up one or two like it that I took during the summer...

Second, I have a sad story. Last night I was quite tired and needed to do something to stay awake until a decent sleep time, but I didn't want to do anything too brain-requiring (if that makes sense) because my brain was not in a mood to cooperate, having already worked quite hard all day. So I got out my Wacom, opened Photoshop, turned on some relaxing music, and just started painting whatever came to my mind. Part way into it all I resized the document and saved it as a smaller version with the goal of doing that every so often to create a sort of history, so I could see how I progressed and its development.

Well. In my braindead state I forgot to undo the size change. So I ended up working for the next hour on a much smaller document, one that I could never really do anything with, like print. When I realized what I had done I totally lost my motivation to continue, and almost cried, in fact. It was quite disheartening. So I just closed it all, put it away, and haven't worked on it since.

Anyway, I thought I'd share it with you even though it's not very serious in concept and not finished. This cost me a little less than two hours plus a few "Oh, bother!"s and almost-tears at the end.

Agh. I hate when things like that happen in other types of media as well. It's really upsetting, to say the least. But it still looks beautiful, Minde.

True, I should get beat up so here's another one and a small vid I made to test out my buddy's video feature on his new camera... (best in high quality cuz it looks like total shit when it's not. well, not that it's too much better anyway, again... I was just testing to see how it worked.)

Another pic I just uploaded... just for you tututururututuru or however it's spelled...lol

It was indeed, and it was warmer there than here in Portland so I was ok with that...lol. Though on the beach the wind got pretty cold.

Here's one of my light pictures from the summer. Is it called light painting?

It was super dark where we were that night. You can see the stars in the background.

Yes, it's called light painting and as I found out this past week, kinda fun to do...lol.

As for the dog tracks, it's definitely not the type of pic I normally take but I'm working on changing that...lol.

    It died.

Though, it was on photobucket instead of youtube since I could never get the audio and video to sync up well. If I can find it myself I'll send you the url.
