I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. It is a way, though, to give oneself an artificial sense of self-justification. LSE

I have a larger image, but at full size most people have told me they want to gouge their eyes out.

    I see it, too!

And, Marie, those are amazing! When did you start doing those / discover you enjoyed doing it? Do you draw on the pumpkins first?

    Thank you

I just started doing them the year before (the pirate ship I posted here was my first), but I've always liked doing crafty things so it's just a fun way to pass the time, but now the kids in my neighborhood really like them so I have to think of something bigger and better every year

It's actually pretty easy to do if you have the proper tools, not those cheap plastic cutters they sell in those kits (I bought this one online, which I'd recommend for anyone who wants to do more ornate carvings).
Than you just have to find, or even make your own, image to prints out; tape it on the pumpkin than transfer the image by puncturing the outline of the image on to the pumpkin, like this, than remove and cut

I know they sell patterns but I just find it to be a waste of money, since you can just google any image and turn it into a stencil; like for the knight I just searched for "knight stencil" and printed this http://www.tatstore.com/products/mounted-knight-l325

Really cool. Thanks for the info! I might have to try it myself this autumn. Maybe with a couple of friends, though... I know one or two who might enjoy it.

Projection is ordinary. Person A projects at person B, hoping tovalidate something about person A by the response of person B. However, person B, not wanting to be an obejct of someone elses ego and guarding against existential terror constructs a personality which protects his ego and maintain a certain sense of a robust and real self that is different and separate from person A. Sadly, this robust and real self, cut off by defenses of character from the rest of the world, is quite vulnerable and fragile given that it is imaginary and propped up through external feed back. Person B is dimly aware of this and defends against it all the more, even desperately projecting his anxieties back onto person A, with the hope of shoring up his ego with salubrious validation. All of this happens without A or B acknowledging it, of course. Because to face up to it consciously is shocking, in that this is all anybody is doing or can do and it seems absurd when you realize how pathetic it is.

This is a photo essay I did as a final project a few years ago:

    http://dysmedia.com/protest/

Honestly I don't think they're great photos because I had to really rush it, but the TA adored it for some reason.

Hey, do Instagram photos count? I feel like Instagram makes everyone an artist because you can turn a piece of fruit into the next Picasso... but damn, I'm busting out awesome looking pieces like no ones business. I'd post but some photographs but I feel like it's cheating.

In case ya'll are wondering about the bra, it was about 50 feet up in a pine tree I saw on a tram.

It looked to neatly tied to the branches. I wanted to know how it got there and why.

"There are so many other things to take pictures of! It is what it is!", my ex said.

Meanwhile, someone... or something out there is missing a bra.

    It could even be Sasquatch.

The squirrel is out of focus and something's overall fuzzy about the "head" coming out of the rock structure. The subjects are interesting, at least.

The one overlooking the canyon is "meh", but breathtaking if you're actually there.
