I would probably be Ender from Ender's Game. I relate a lot to that character, and he's some kind of NT. I like the idea of being a character that is different in some unusual way.
i used to think i wanted to be kilgore trout from breakfast of champions.
Ender from Ender's Game yes, but not totally different direction Card took Ender's character.Originally Posted by thehotelambush

Charlie from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
"How could we forget those ancient myths that stand at the beginning of all races, the myths about dragons that at the last moment are transformed into princesses? Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us act, just once, with beauty and courage. Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest essence, something helpless that wants our love."

Speaker for the Dead, Xenocide, and Children of the Mind. Ender's Game is an incredible piece of science-fiction whose success was followed up by hollowed attempts to continue the story (see Dune for a similar example).Originally Posted by thehotelambush

I liked all those books, but Ender's Game was an order of magnitude better. You know, Speaker for the Dead was supposed to be the original book (not like it matters, though).Originally Posted by Logos
Really? I was under the impression, from what Card told me that Ender's Game was first because they came from a series of collegiate short stories he turned into a book.Originally Posted by thehotelambush

I heard that Ender's Shadow was good as well, but I could never trust Card again after reading the aforementioned sequels to Ender's Game.Originally Posted by Diana

Call of Earth is pretty good. He had the general idea for Speaker for the Dead, but then the prologue/introduction became so complicated that it turned into a book.
yeah he was pretty chillOriginally Posted by Logos
i'm actually cool with most of the characters in that movie except for that whiny little shit blankie. i seriously have no idea why the characters didn't dump that killjoy when they had the chance.

I've always identified with Jake from The Sun Also Rises.
John Constantine, Constantine.
Bender! (naturally)
Mat Cauthon from Wheel of Time.
Rocket from City of God.
Yes! Ender was great, at least in the first book. He wasn't THAT bad in Speaker for the Dead, either, but the last two kind of sad... Ender's Shadow is indeed good, and its sequel is all right except for the romantic-ish stuff... a little over the top . I'm reading Shadow of the Giant right now, actually, and was considering starting a thread on the types of the characters in Ender's universe. Might have to now.Originally Posted by thehotelambush

Dude, being Batman would suck. He has no friends. I mean, gadgets are cool and all, but when your only amigo is a 70 year old butler...

That's actually big part of his charm The sort of tragic-heroic life he lives. Sacrificing his life for the betterment of society but not because he is noble (like superman) but because of his own twisted personal reasons and his own tragic past and his sense of duty. And he does have a girl (even though he can't get too close to her emotionally) and kind of superficial friends who he hangs out with when he is not wearing his armor. The butler is of course important character as he is the only one who you can share the whole truth with. Batman knows he is and will always be chained to his destiny even when he is not wearing the suit. However in the end it is his own choosing even if circumstances have had great effect. In theory he could stop at any moment. He is pretty rich after all. Nothing but his own personal reasons force him to be Batman. Still he chooses to be. I like itOriginally Posted by Gilly

You're calling a smiter of cities and the God who gave Egypt the 10 Plagues boring? Wow. Wait, and if they are so boring, why would you want to be that? Especially when you could be a cute baby harp seal or puppy instead? ::smiles::Originally Posted by KSpin

The books are boring, the God idea is kind of, you know, omnipotent.
