We will develop it, simply because we have to. And obviously the various oil reserves will not run out at exactly the same time. They'll run out one by one, over who-knows-how-many years. Catastrophism is a political ploy.

They both are deadly sins after all. Wouldn't it be appropriate if everyone died because of them.

Fortunately economy will soon make it more comfortable for people to use alternative energy for fueling cars. As petrol gets more and more expencive, the alternative fules get cheaper in comparison. And when people start using more and more of the alternative fuel, companies will come out with cheaper ways of manufacturing the alternative fuel. That is when sloth will come to our rescue - we will have to spend less hours working to drive the same amount with the alternative fuel. The problem right now is that oil is not expensive enough. (and if I'm not mistaken, it's twice as expensive in Europe compared to USA.) Also, when someone buys an American car here, he is considered a money-spender, because of amount of oil that the car consumes. Right now oil isn't expensive enough worldwide.
