    Default This subforum

I might've said this before, but it's absolutely awesome. It's a hotbed for awesomeness. You people are awesome.

Check out the other quadra subforums - they are nowhere near as cool as this one. Especially Delta. It is curiously Alpha/Delta hybrid .

Also, while I remember, check out www.fuckoff.com

To be honest, I'm surprised that that's the case. I always saw Alpha as essentially dominating the forum, specifically Alpha NTs (although there is certainly a number of Alpha SFs).

It may have something to do with the fact that many of them have better things to do. Alternatively, their concentration has been steered toward "IRL". Another possibility is that many were tired of the offensive and/or abusive nature of many posts directed towards various users by other offended and/or abused users.

Yeah, we have what I think is probably the equivalent, called Relentless. It's been out for only a few years:

Before that, we had (and still have) Red Bull, which is obviously not ours, and cheap imitations such as Luck from Tesco:

No I think you should buy/make a cup or two of coffee early in the mourning, then thur out the day drink PLENTY and only WATER, and when you feel the need to boost up your performace or work speed, drink a caffine soda or an energy drink and it will maximize the caffine soda effect, since your body is pretty cleanse becuase of the water you drink and not Soda.

they give energy, and are less likely to make you anxious than energy drinks ... the 30/40g of protein ones can make me feel kind of euphoric if i haven't had one in a while.

for me, i find they're helpful when i drink, to keep going, and not just kind of wash away into a vapid alcohol-induced slur.

I was under the impression they were useful as meal replacements in a pinch. Like if you're at the airport and don't feel like paying a billion dollars for a sandwich, just pull out your protein bar and you're good to go. I think if you eat them as snacks in between meals all the time, you could gain weight.

eating more often can speed up your metabolism. if you eat smaller portions for meals when you do eat them it's fine.

I kind of need to take it slow on the energy drink thing. It's good every once in a while for a boost, but I've noticed that excessive use of them just completely *up's* my anxiety.
Yeah, Leon (Mr. Saturn) used to drink four Lucozades a day until his girlfriend told him that it may be having some adverse effects on his health.

No, they saved it from its horrific impracticality by implementing the only viable form of it: authoritarian communism. It's a bit like the vanguard party, except the state is constantly in control.

Yes, for the wrong reasons. It's a very simplistic, unworkable system. I can elaborate on both this and the above, if you wish.

"Communism may be summed up: Abolition of private property, heavy progressive taxes, abolition of inheritance, centralisation in the State of all: banking, communication and transport, factories and instruments of production. Equal liability of all to labour. Establishment of industrial armies. Free education & abolition of child labour."

This is not the version of communism I had been led to believe was the version.

Seems it may be viable after all.

My basic view of communism was, initially, this:

If the state is abolished - and thus currency - each individual is free to do as they please within the community - they can be a fishmonger, a literary critic and a marriage councillor. Since there is no reason for greed, no one will desire to accumulate wealth. It's not so much that everything is "free" as that each plays their part within the collective. We work for ourselves in working for each other. If I live in a communist community and am a farmer, I provide eggs for the carpenter who builds my farm. This is not barter - nothing belongs to anyone. I use the skills I was born with to aid those who were not born with said skills, and they do the same with me.

Now, I think we'll both agree that this is incredibly idealistic, and would just never happen. Moreover, it couldn't happen. It is impossible. Human beings are driven to accumulate - this is a factual state of affairs. It has nothing to do with environmental factors, it is an inborn trait. So in order for individuals to remain equal, there must be a strong state which intervenes.

This new version which I've just picked up essentially advocates this state. I was confused because I believed that in Marx's mind, there was no state. Now he seems to think that there should be a strong state. Stalin's Russia was a heavily distorted view of Marx's state, no doubt, but I hear of "the abolition of the state", and then I hear about state-regulated production. I'm not sure what exactly it is that Marx wants here.

Isn't that what everybody says about communism? It sounds so good on paper but in practice it's absolutely retarded.

Israel did a pretty good job. Of course, I'm pretty sure they also didn't get their ideas from the same place.

I love Red Bull. yes, we have many, many cheap imitations here as well.

I kind of need to take it slow on the energy drink thing. It's good every once in a while for a boost, but I've noticed that excessive use of them just completely *up's* my anxiety.

i have a very strong urge to demand you give me control of your nutrition habits =P for some reason im good at telling other people how to eat, but i dont necessarily practice what i preach....all the time...I TRY THOUGH!

anyhow...i like nicotine gum. heh. then again...i kinda like nicotine when at work...thats the only time id use it. that definitely gets to me. but caffeine...hardly ever. and if i drink coffee in large quantities...i just get a stomach ache. acid and such. bad news bears.

and one beer? well....thats not unheard of but man up! become a pro like all the cool kids!
