Not lately. Though I've never been big on mixed drinks really. Bloody mary's here, some mojitos there, I generally stick to shots of whiskey.

I have to say that alcohol is almost like part of the culture in Scotland. It's a little weird from my perspective reading Americans talking about alcohol and their attitudes towards it.

The pub here is kinda like a community aspect. It's a hub for my friends (and most people I think) to meet up to exchange stories and talk about life and general stuff.

My favourite pub is called The Bull Inn and it's kinda quiet in that you can pop in for a pint and mind your own business but also you can go for a 'session' too if you wish. You don't have what I often hear in American establishments, where pubs are often seedy and you get leachy guys trying to chat you up, that sort of thing. Also, from some of my friends who have been there, one thing that comes to mind is an ex who went to New York to work as an au pair and if you got a second drink in a pub you were regarded as an alcoholic

I remember having a conversation with my friend who'd spent quite a while in the States moving to different parts and we came to the conclusion that Prohibition probably messed up peoples ideas of alcohol in the States.

Also, as I understand it, it can be quite common in the America for people to be dry for weeks on end then have a house party were everyone gets absolutely smashed on alcohol and drugs.

On the subject, wonder what you guys make of it?

Well yeah (am I rambling now lol) the Bull Inn plays really cool music, bands like Thin Lizzie, The Who and stuff. Mainly rock music, but it's not a rock pub. Just the manager has some cool taste in music and has got me into a lot of alternative modern guitar music as well.

I also like a pub called the Pot Still which is pretty popular on the tourist trail as it's famous for it's whiskies. Eh, if you're ever in Glasgow, Black Friars in Merchant City area and The Bon Accord are also pretty good.

I rarely drink whisky or spirits in pubs though, it's mainly pints of real ale that i'm into these days.

Drinking a glass of beer every day is better for the body than drinking seven glasses one day a week.

Don't know how you got that idea from what I wrote. Anyway, it's medically regarded as healthy to have a drink just about every day. Preferably a glass of red wine, for the tannins, and choosing one that has not had acetaldyhyde added.

A good beer is better than any mixed drink I can think of. I prefer them, mostly because I can gauge them very easily. Liquor, for me, even when mixed, has gotten me into more shit than I'd care to go into.

Since I'm young, I can't quite explore the microbrews, but as far as regular, general beers go, Blue Moon with oranges is really good.

I drink often, but it's primarily wine. Liquor is almost too strong tasting for me now. I like a lot of beers, but they tend to give me a headache. I'm not sure if it's the carbonation or dehydration.. combination of both?

I love good mojitos. Those are awesome in the summertime. I'd probably say that's my favorite. Green tea martinis are good, too, though, but I haven't seen them on a menu in a while...

Do you get real ales over there? Basically lager/beer was created as you say with the carbonation. When it's carbonated it makes it that bit more acidic and it's a bit trickier for bacteria to breed which means it lasts longer...which was pretty useful back "in the day" when transporting the stuff for people over distances.

Real ale (although bottled ales tend to be treated) like in a pub, a keg would last for a month typically. It's not carbonated and they are usually grown fully "organic" so not as many other unnatural chemicals in it either. Loads of different kinds here.

But yeah, probably a combination of both lol

Hey, when you were in UK you probably tried it, and hated it hahaha

Yeah, we do have those, although only since recently when they changed the liquor laws in my state to allow higher alcohol content in beer... I've tried them, although I never keep track of which ones I like. Perhaps I'll try them again if they're less likely to give me a headache...

I hate beer, but I drink it because it makes me feel like a man.

I created a drink in college called Thug Life. 1 part Alize - 1 part Hennessy. It was terrible, but I drank it because it made me feel like a thug.

I drink mostly vodka/gin tonics now.

When I was 18 I felt the skills of a gentleman included dancing, fencing, playing chess and mixing drinks, so I learned them.
So I prefer not to drink the same drink twice (if we're talking liquor). I guess my particular "thing" is to use milk as a constituent of various kinds of milk shakes, smoothies as well as alcoholic drinks. But I don't usually drink milk by itself.

I drink mebe a couple glasses of alcohol a year, except when I'm staying with my parents .. because they have a vineyard and are always trying some new wine. Which is probably why alcohol is a bit "meh w/e" to me. :-p I don't mind the slightly light-headed feeling you get after having a few sips on an empty stomach .. but after that, the subtlety is lost and you may as well just go and hit yourself on the head a few times and be done with it imo. :-p
