    Default Typing 'noise'

Do we really have to start a new "what's my type" thread each time a loner shouts that some person's self typing is wrong?

I think we should start to accept that there will always be some typing 'noise'.

There will always be a small minority (<10%) a.k.a. 'the noise', who say that ****** wasn't EIE, Schwarzenegger isn't LSE, Einstein isn't ILE, etc.

Do we really want to give them that much attention by starting threads?

I agree but what why did you think it needed to be addressed?

people will always want to give their opinion or talk shit or whatever. if you are waiting for the day when standards are systematized and consensus is taken as truth in the socionics community then i would advise that you do not hold your breath.

I agree. It's insolent and annoying. People shouldn't be so arrogant that they consistently try to mold things in their own way, especially when done so thoughtlessly.

No, but if someone wants to, why do you care? Ignore it and move on.

Well it happens all the time, not like it's anything new, so ignoring it is out of the question. Not participating in it is difficult when it's so engrained in what you read on the forum. So the best medium is to state your opinions and complain about it

But as you said we can practice patience by trying to ignore it, let things sort out by themselves, or leave the forum if you don't like it, etc. It is much easier not to have to read it, wasting time and patience, which is why it's best to let those people know they're being troublesome and maybe they will correct it sooner or not do it as much. This happened when Maritsa first joined the forum and posted 100 /day, all I could do is complain about my headache, it helped sooth the pain. + Complaining and taking sides usually makes it easier for others to relieve themselves by doing the same.

There are conflicting personalities, some want more productive discussion, and some want to explore and get off tangent, and a mix of things, so there will always be people having natural issues with either side, all depending on what it is, so we can't stop this... only talking about it will be healthy. You don't have to talk about it with just anyone, you can chose your acquaintances.

it doesnt bother me because it seems like a natural consequence of socionics not being a hard science. demanding uniformity doesn't make sense when there's no objective standard...in this case its just calling for censorship with no real case for yourself. if you dont want noise you'll have to get all those outliers on the same page as yourself regarding socionics interpretation. good luck with that lol.

If it bothers you, just don't reply. We can't stop people from making threads.

firstly, there's nothing implicitly malicious, irritating, or idiotic about being a loner. that's none of your business really, unless they make it yours.

secondly, not all people that form a strong opinion about a person's self typing is a loner.

thirdly, typing dead people that we've never met is always up for debate because we don't know them personally, even if it seems silly in some cases.

fourth, this is a very abstract theory with very scattered and sometimes contradictory information on the subject, which makes it hard to relate well with the real world. that means being new to the theory can result in first having to make a lot of mistakes before accurately mapping the underlying phenomena of the theory to reality, without too much prejudice.

fifth, if this is really such a concern for you, then you could avoid it by elucidating what people have problems with, rather than just complaining.

and i don't mean to offend your intelligence, but you feel so baselessly prejudice here...is this the image you really want to convey?

Lol you sound just like this SLI girl I knew some time ago. She insisted that information should be shared only with select few people involved, that opinions of others are just 'noise' (she even used that exact same word) that does not deserve attention. My thoughts were more in line with what THA is saying - share information with everyone involved but then whatever feedback doesn't make sense don't implement it / ignore it. TeFi vs FeTi in action I guess.

I think everyone is entitled to one type-me thread, which can be used as anything from learning socionics for the first time to "I'm bored; everybody look at me!" And if someone argues about their type, they can just link them that thread.

    cool.

I'm not against different opinions though, yet I'm against the usual suspects, who over and over claim to know things better, while they clearly know shit. They get to much attention, and people who know their stuff, get to little. I see it happening all the time on this forum.

I want to learn from some people here, e.g. I find your(=siuntal) posts often interesting! but most of the time I end up seeing shit being posted by the usual suspects.

No I try to convey an image of being an awesome pornstar. And I'm doing a good job of that, ask anybody here. On a serious note, I don't care about image, it hinders being provocativ.

    Arnold could be ESE.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...
