For me it's more that I get so caught up in paying attention to the minutia of the person's facial expressions and the way they carry themselves that I lose track of what they say.

When I retyped ILI to LIE? that was when I first started posting here, before anyone had any idea who I was, and when I was still learning the basics. No one had any idea lol. The only thing people seemed to agree on was Ni.

I have no opinion on your enneagram type number (edit: well, maybe I do, but it's not very strong) but before you even said it, the stacking that came to mind was that you were social and self-preservational, and that sp/so made more sense than so/sp. Wanting connections is normal for a lot of people and doesn't seem really related to any stacking though I see sexual instinct as being a preoccupation with connection (not necessarily physical or at all sexual, but relationships whether they pertain to you or not and being preoccupied with such might be a good indication of being sexual in ennea-speak or at least not sexual last, depending on the time and energy you expend mentally or otherwise on that which falls under the sexual variant umbrella).

What do you think of 8w9 sp/so for enneatype? 9w8 might be a decent fit based on things said, but only you can really know.

I thought about 8w9 several times and I just don't relate. I don't have the expansive/controlling nature. I'm too willing to adapt. 9w8 is far more likely than 8w9, but I definitely have 3 motivations that supersede any 9 motivations.

As far so-instinct. I've always felt I kind of isolation that I've been generally fine with. I have no desire to be part of something bigger which seems to be central to so-instinct. The only times I've felt that I should become more involved with people in general is to find particular people who I can establish 'real' relationships with. Even among my family I'm isolated, and my family is pretty close.
