Are Alphas weird, or are people just dumb?

Ok, so I was having a popup convo with SubT and he made a joke about a value he had and how some people can just burn...subject matter not really important, but basically made a crack that happened to have the word burn in it, although this was not the primary focus of the convo.

And my immediate reaction was to send this...

So he was like "what the?" .... and I explained the correlation. He didn't expect any correlation, and hence lolled.

So it left me thinking (and sending back) this:

"I pretty much always fly off on "tangents" in conversation, even IRL, and most people cannot establish a connection between what is being said and where I take it, so they decide that I am really weird. But there is always a connection...

Do you think this is some crazy Alpha thing, or are most people just really dumb? Oh I'm so starting a thread now! "

So is it an Alpha thing? And if so, what elements?

I suppose Alphas are more inclined to pursue passing interests (and many of them) compared to the other quadras.

The -ness and -ness might associate one thing with something else in their memory bank and perhaps reinvent it to suit the occasion. And with the there might be some internal logic between things if you were to know that logic, but the perhaps obscures this (though some would say not!).

It's not that everyone else is dumb, it's that you need to explain yourself better. I come up with tons of funny or witty comments too, well I'm an alpha, but that's beside the point! In order for someone to understand what I'm trying to say, however funny, I seem to have to explain it to them, and the joke kind of dies from there.

Also, funny story. My LII best friend from high school got married a couple years ago. At the reception we couldn't clink glasses to make the bride and groom kiss so instead I told her people should have to go up and say haikus. Here was one of mine:

ESE's always seem quite normal to me. I think they are the Alpha type most likely to fit into what's regarded as normal. (Hopefully without going into debate of what's regarded as normal/weird). The 'weirdest' Alpha's i've known have been SEI's.

Somewhere in the middle are LII's and ILE's, with LII's tipping the sales out the two towards 'weird', ha.

I've met alphas who make really funny comments that seem to click and make sense immediately, and I've met alphas who seem to go off on "witty" tangents which make more sense in their head and leaves people confused. The second doesn't seem more intelligent, it just seems more out of touch. In the same way I can talk to my ESE-Fe mom for 10 minutes and she won't retain any of it.. she gets this deer in the headlights look and just sort of starts throwing agreeable words around. The best speakers and writers in the world, though; their words will just 'click' with you, and you'll get what they're saying ..

I know this is an old post, but I can totally relate here. In my mind, the seemingly random connection totally makes sense.. and its awesome and then *I* look like an idiot because people either:

a) don't see the connection at all, or,
b) might, but can't get over how abstract it is enough to appreciate the funny

as an aside, fellow entp friend of mine almost always get it, and we have lots of lolling much to the confusion of our friends.

*le sigh* over the past few years I just keep the funny to myself unless im with other entp's or if people know me well enough and that works
