Hey, someone wrote gullible on the ceiling...
Do you find that some types are more gullible than others? They might fall for those "hey look over there" tricks a lot.

One of my first year roommates once convinced me that my fantasy football tight end (Bubba Franks you shall ever remain my hero) suffered a career ending injury when I was going down to do some laundry. At first I was all 'bullshit' but he said 'forreal' and I went 'no way!' but he came back with 'I know it sucks' and I said 'fuuuuuuuck'. Then as I left to walk down the hallway he shouted something about gullible not being in the dictionary. I was confused. Fifteen minutes later I realized he was a d-bag.
Then my other roommate (god I can't believe I fell for it) called me up from an unknown number saying I'd won a free pizza from some drawing they entered every student into when they bought textbooks. I never felt so retarded as I did when I walked all the way down to the dorm lobby and asked the desk guy if he'd seen my free pizza anywhere. OMG.
Then of course there was the catnip incident of which I no longer speak.

I'm gullible too. once when I was in jr. high this friend of mine convinced me to call this boy I liked. he made up this story that the boy I liked had called him and talked to him about how much he liked me (even though I knew that the two of them didn't know each other since they went to different schools, etc). Anyway, super embarrassing because he talked me into it and I actually CALLED this boy. Awkward conversation, to say the least.

lol but yea I'm really gullible too. My ex used to tell me she was pregnant, and then she'd bust out laughing when she saw the look on my face. I'd say "Pregnant with lies!!"

yeah if someone's going to be a jerk and lie about something, I think anyone could fall for it.
I'm good at reading people, so will probably be the last one to get stopped on the street by some scamer person asking me to just give them $10 because their car broke down and then they were attacked by clowns and are late to their kids dance recital, etc.
However, if someone I know lies to me, I'll believe them.
People who lie just to call you gullible, I think are stupid.
Hi! I'm an ENFP. :-)
Nobody has answered the question so far: Is it type-related or not?!
I think it is -related. The weaker your Te the more gullible you are.
SEI, IEI, EII, ESI are the most gullible types I think...
My cousin is SEI, my grandmother was SEI.
SEIs believe everything you tell them
Yea weak Te is probably it.

Wouldn't a person be gullible to any information they are weak in?
Like an LIE would be gullible if someone established a "friendship" with them when in fact they are just being friendly or something? I swear I have a Te dominant who is overly assuming in thinking I really like her or something, when I, a Fe valuer is just being that way to be friendly and I need her to help me as we are part of a team etc?
hey someone wrote something sincere on the ceiling...

not me. I've always had a very good bullshit detector.
If it's believable, I may give the benefit of the doubt, but there's always enough skepticism in me to not fully trust/believe pretty much anything I hear, read, or even "know" myself.
Generally I'll play along with it though, either for fun or just for interesting discussion.
I agree too. It makes sense.
That being said, it does seem like some types are more gullible overall than others because they lack 'truth testing' skills (e.g. reading body language, tone of voice, understanding of the intentions of the person making the claim, mentally testing the logical/practical plausibility, checking for consistency and/or thoroughness/detail, asking for evidencual support, comparing with past knowledge/experience...).
i know an SEI who mistook a novel, popular fiction at that, for a work of non-fiction just b/c it had an introduction written by a 'philologist' (that was clearly made up just judging by the inflated language used). this same SEI also regularly buys lottery tickets.
LII's are very difficult to convince, on the whole. they tend to be good at spotting contradictions, incongruences, and are just naturally sceptical. i suspect some EII's are also very alert to falsehood b/c they have a good instinct for ppl's intentions and their perceptual vulnerabilities.
Another, related question is how do different types test the truthfulness of claims and assertions?
