Easy Day
26, seems excessively high looking at my life.

Low: 15 out of a possible 33.
I was kinda hoping to get a sky-high score. Must retake!
Addendum: 33 out of a possible 33 - thats better. What a promotional test lol.
Reason is a whore.
30 out of 33. I had problems with the cheating question since it would make me hate myself to do that but as an utilitarian I don't see there's nothing wrong with cheating which doesn't hurt anyone.

Is it a psychopath test or an ethics test? Probably the latter.

But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...
Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
Whilst our laughter echoed,
Under cerulean skies...
Should be taken in conjunction with a test that measures parity between self conception and actual life, ahurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Yeah, I've known and dealt with true psychopaths fairly intimately before, and my job exposes me to a large number of people every day, and I think they are much rarer than statistics and petty tests like these would lead one to believe. Interacting 1 on 1 with about 100+ people every day I work, my guess would be maybe 1 in 500 or fewer is a real, true psychopath in terms of the purely heartless, intelligent, impulsive, charismatic image that is commonly ascribed. However I think there are a lot of people who are not real psychopaths, ie not fitting the DSM criteria for Antisocial PD, but are equally callous and uncaring for other people, especially those outside their family/circle of friends. I think that rather than the current ideation that most of us all feel and experience things similarly, and there being a "psychopath gene" that screws some people up, people rather exist on widely varying spectrums of charisma, ego strength, empathy, impulsiveness, etc. This strikes me as both more intuitively sensical as well as more in line with what we know about human genetics and development.

Apparently I only kill people when it is the right thing to do.

15. I'd like to know what being impulsive, liking roller coasters/skydiving, and remaining calm when other people are freaking out has to do with being a psychopath. IMO - absolutely nothing.
meh. wrong approach. looking at effects of one cause and saying that they add up to the cause is not science - it's backwards thinking. There are more than one cause for each effect, and many, even most of the same effects can be in one individual without psychopathy being at all present, which yes, is mentioned, but the "test" gives an entirely wrong impression, because the effects being listed in the test -- have nothing to do with the problem. They are present when someone is a psychopath, but say absolutely nothing about whether someone is or not. What makes someone a psychopath is a lack of empathy, narcissism, etc.
to clarify -- an example: horses have 4 legs, but having 4 legs doesn't make something more likely to be a horse than a cow. too many of the things the test focused on were VERY peripheral things that are present in completely healthy individuals to the same extent or greater extent than their presence in psychopaths.

There's no "it depends" button, if there was it'd probably be higher

Even more than that: for example, I may think "cheating is not a problem if you don´t get caught" but still don´t think I should do it, because it would be hurtful for ME - but not for the average risk-neutral human being.
Yeah, that´s what I meant. Plenty of questions seemed to be aimed towards asking if you think you should something, rather than "Does this make sense from an universal ethical standpoint". I personally prefer the latter approach, but I can see how the former might be useful if someone´s aim is selling the largest amount of books.30 out of 33. 23. disagreed with the cheating question, agreed with the conning one. I wouldn't any more want to receive pity for my ignorance than benefit from another's. for example, I could've removed some of the money from a check the bartender gave me before taking it over to the drunkard to clarify payment methods, but I didn't; not because I thought it essentially wrong, but because the feeling of imbalance that robbing a helpless hipster would cause would negate whatever gain resulted from it. so while I was irritated when he tipped on the discounted check, I couldn't convince myself that I should have taken some of the money, as the absurdity of knowing I could simply rob him outright overrode those gain-loss ratios. anyway this is a distinction when it comes to psychopathy -- it's not so much that they'll weigh those kinds of pros and cons and just discard all personal matters, but that their vantage point is implicitly impersonal, and so pros and cons are just puzzle pieces. the balance in their temperament is reached by adapting instinctive reactions to the given social context, i.e. pilfering some of that money and panderously waltzing back up to the dude with some premeditated quip about the difficulties of splitting checks, capped off with petty gratitude.

yeah, actually that self-denying intractability was the one thing about him that pissed me off. but yeah, he's probably a more extreme case, given that most aren't calloused enough to need to indulge violent upheavals at intervals, or otherwise deem it more efficient to simply shine a few shoes and make away.

Ahh, to hell with it.
You write a lot, strrrng.
Cool username, although I would have to write it on my hand to relish the memories.
Yeah I never would have been so suspicious of him if he didn't seem like he was constantly trying to prove himself while remaining completely invulnerable. It was just a fishy combo.
I didn't feel any real bad vibes until the whole strip club gag, and then the sloppy club bouncing...that's when it seemed like he started pushing himself.

yeah, I pretty much took his glib self-promotions in stride, unconsciously assuming any tension could be easily quelled, but when he came to our work that day, all glossy-eyed and giddy for a cigarette, the answer was pretty obvious.Originally Posted by Gilly
