Also, my daughter's cookbook says 2 level tablespoons ground coffee per 1 cup water. (1-1 1/2 tablespoons for gourmet) (experiment with the ratio and fineness of the grind to get a brew just right for you.)

1/2 cup beans = 1/2 cup finely ground coffee = about 8 cups coffee
The finer the grind, the stronger the brew.

Funny that you made a thread on this, I had been looking at and considering the idea for the past few days. (Don't want a coffee maker cluttering my newly cleared counters!!)
