Intelligence level is perhaps the most overlooked aspect of all relationships. Maybe it is because intelligence is so difficult to measure. One thing is clear to me though: different intelligence levels are like different planes of reality.
The mind is capable of perceiving many things at once, mostly subconsciously. However, for practical reasons, it restricts the amount of information that can be processed to avoid saturation. It is my opinion that both talent and giftedness are mutations that alter the normal threshold of perception, just pulling in different directions.
Talent is the result of the restriction of information that can be handled at once. It allows a person to focus more intensely on a problem without distractions, which results in a better performance in tasks that do not require switching ways of thinking too often. Composers who know a lot of music but don't know much about anything else are a good example.
Giftedness, on the contrary, increases the information available at once. This allows a person to see the same as others but to notice details others overlook. Also, this heightened awareness permits the gifted to see connections that are broader than other people. A consequence of this is a reduced productivity because the gifted individual has many more connections to make and thus it takes more time to finish a thought.
In short terms, talented individual focus more on judging functions. Gifted individuals are more focused on perceiving ones. I do not have clear how this is different from an average person but I'd like to hear your opinions on this.
