Default ENTp jobs/careers/occupations: what do ILEs do for a living?

Was having so much fun with the SEI thread on this topic thought I should Start one for ILE.

I am a Board Game Designer. I love the work that I do, every day I get to work on something new that is going to be a facet of a larger project. The work is truly inexhaustible, and never routine. The people that I work with are mostly INTjs and ENTps, and the art department is staffed with a lot of ISTps, all people that I love spending time with. I also have nearly no schedule.

In the past, I have done half a dozen Sales jobs, but in no way would I ever suggest them as a reasonable career for someone with my type.

My father (an ILE) is the chief architect for a company that makes a highly customizable processor. He has to think about all the different ways the buyers could customize it and make sure it works reasonably in all those cases.

My cousin (ILE) works as a security guard for the gas and oil wells. Basically just sits in the guard shack and checks the trucks that go in and out. He likes it because he can fool around and do ILE things on his labtop without having anybody breathing down his back.

    Retail sux I agree.

How did you get that job?? Board Game Designer sounds awesome! And your team of LIIs and ILEs are all board game designers too?

I actually worked in financial sales. I don't think they would let me work in retail. My wife works at a restaurant and says that I wouldn't make it a day. I would never know what I was supposed to be doing and would be in everyone's way.

ENTP do many things other types too. Good if you do a work wich you like and for wich you have abbilities higher than average. It's not so in many cases.

    Inventor!
Important to note! People who share "indentical" socionics TIMs won't necessarily appear to be very similar, since they have have different backgrounds, experiences, capabilities, genetics, as well as different types in other typological systems (enneagram, instinctual variants, etc.) all of which also have a sway on compatibility and identification. Thus, Socionics type "identicals" won't necessarily be identical i.e. highly similar to each other, and not all people of "dual" types will seem interesting, attractive and appealing to each other.

My ILE friends one is an actor who also volunteered her time to coordinate theatre projects for intercity kids the other is a business planner and coordinator and a business coach. She likes writing books on the side. Both have a lot of ideas. One ILE that I knew was a classical musician

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. It is a way, though, to give oneself an artificial sense of self-justification. LSE

I know ILE artists too, a graphics designer and a director. Similarly you're not going to find inventors and scientists everywhere, that is because most of every type is an average intelligence person with an average job, and ILE is an average type, capable of very similar things as everyone else, things I've usually found from experience to be like watching football, hanging out with people and talking trivia, news, TV shows, without much deeper reflection on life. Normal people stuff, all people who don't like doing chores and maintenance, but that becomes the life they live and think about.

I think that we would be the biased ones evaluating ILEs, since we're more commonly intellectuals on here who have intellectual friends. I just know too many Ns around elsewhere who aren't intellectual or very smart to me, nor creative. I know an ILE pastor who is particularly simple-minded and uninventive, and another SLI pastor who is very creative, whimsical and thoughtful. Just examples, examples.
This can be true, but usually the ILEs I meet working where I do (customer service or retail) are promoted out of the company very quickly. The ILEs I know IRL are:

    - male software developer
    - female writer & graphic stylist (creates fonts, but writing is her calling)
    - male high-level corporate exec for a major retailer
    - male, owns own tech company
    - female, nurse but majored in poli sci (what why is she a nurse then... is what I always wonder)
    - female, ecologist

I know plenty of ILEs who had a stint at McDonalds or similar, but none who stayed at that level for more than a year. There are probably some in blue collar work who later had kids, though, and that prevented them from progressing as much as they would have liked.

Actually, I do know one ILE who is in prison rn, but before that, I remember him being like, "Come on, Emmym, you HAVE a high school degree, just BS your way into working in a lab somewhere!" like he had done twice through different temp agencies. As if just anyone can do that, lmao.

My wife's ILE-Ne uncle is a Dentist. He also is constantly trying to come up with salable inventions, mostly related to stress-psychology (an important skill in dentistry.)

I also know an ILE economics PhD candidate.

I started to become more and more crippled in the real world since I signed in the university. These days strict routine work is out of question. It seems (and is) like eternal torture. When I did those (very briefly) my mind was constantly designing new things.
Teaching (chemistry, physics, mathematics) is something where I can spew out crazy theoretical stuff in very strange comedic inspiring manner (and the audien... students like me a lot compared to others specimen in that field) change the things around develop new ways to approach things etc. That is something I can do easily. At least for now... I would like to actually change the way it is done globally but you can only use little lab rat potential in each students at once. I tried to work in in too routinized lab couple of years back in time (where certain ISFj made my life living hell).

I have also seen few ILEs doing mathematics. Biology & chemistry teacher etc.

I'm going into teaching. It keeps me busy, gives me daily stimulation, always need to stay on top of things, and each day is different. Never know what to expect with each day and have to come up with new things and creative ways to problem solve all the time.

I build and maintain recording studios, radio stations, television studios and production rooms. I do all the networking and connections myself as well as set up all the equipment to base levels for camera crews and production teams. I've been getting bored though so I'm thinking of moving my niche skills even more niche into eSports live streams.

Examples of ILE careers: lawyer, entrepreneur, cartoonist, comedian, theoretical physicist, mathematician, programmer, get-rich-quick schemer, filmmaker, social science professor, doctor. Of the more conventional careers, law seems to be one ILEs enjoy.

One of my best friends is ILE-Ne and he studied law for a year, dropped out because partying was more important to him than the university and now he studies economics.
My uncle is ILE too and he's a computer engineer, but he's a university drop out too.
Even though ILEs are tend to be viewed as the academic type for some reason, they usually are not and they feel better when they can follow their own systems and create their own structure outside of the university. Most of the ILEs I know tend to be more into liberal creative and scientific fields.

Yes, good point. ILEs are probably more present in academia than most types but that doesn't mean it's the norm.

Here is one likely ILE's take on academia and how it is limiting:

I have found that ENTps are excellent at investigative endeavours where connecting disjoint facts are necessary - an ideas person. Even though ENTps are masters at putting things together, most seem to make very poor managers; staff under an ENTp usually get the feeling that they're trying to pee through a rolling doughnut. To be effective, an ENTp leader needs at least one very stable and very determined lieutenant that knows a good idea when s/he sees it and ignores the frequent changing of horses mid-stream by the leader........

I personally couldn't think of a cooler, more interesting job! Me and my friends play board games. What board games have you made? We ought to try some of them out...

I should also add that I find that I am great at playing board games, but would find designing a board game hard. For instance, there was this game I played where you had to capture the territory of New York ("Kings of New York", I believe). *But* the key to the game is not about capturing territory - like "Risk" - but to attack and not have your health drained. This is based on rolling the dice. Therefore, you are always rolling the dice to attack other people, and when your health gets low, you starting rolling for your health - regardless of whatever else is on the dice. That's all there is to it! I won this game the first time I played it, using this strategy. Now, designing a game like that is hard. For instance, I'm not sure how you would logically define all the parameters in a game like this...

EDIT: Do you work on a board game as a team? Does that help?
