    Default 16types Book Club

Reading helps you pretend your brain isn't rotting, so join the book club! Who's interested!
    @Poptart @SlaveChildOfSlaanesh @godslave @Adam Strange @Dreymagine @End @one @Aster @Ikite iru @Socionics Is A Cult @chriscorey @Tallmo @qaz00 @necrosebud @fiorale @Disturbed

I was thinking for our first book we could read this:

It was given the Canadian equivalent of the Pulitzer, plus a ton of other Canadian awards, so it's gotta be good, I think. The Canadians probably have great judgement.

It'll be fun to talk about books together, so post in this thread if you'd like to join!

Also, try to use the spoiler tags for info/discussion about individual chapters.

Ok I suggested that we read For Whom The Bell Tolls first. I’m a little more than halfway through but reading at a turtle pace, so if you start now, we might finish at the same time. @FreelancePoliceman finished it in about two days.

Maybe best to just go with Bear, since this was Freelance's initiative. One can discuss forever about what to read.

I have it at my local library. I can start reading this week.

    Let's do this!
The decisive thing is not the reality of the object, but the reality of the subjective factor, i.e. the primordial images, which in their totality represent a psychic mirror-world. It is a mirror, however, with the peculiar capacity of representing the present contents of consciousness not in their known and customary form but in a certain sense sub specie aeternitatis, somewhat as a million-year old consciousness might see them.

It’s not available at my library, and the price on Amazon is $57
@FreelancePoliceman is there a way I can read this book for free?

@FreelancePoliceman you know what i was thinking exactly about reading books the recent times bc of how brainrotten everything online is. i dont mean the memes but theres smth very wrong with how ppl seem to express themselves and with their ideas, so i thought well written books can help sustain my mind away from all that. but if i was haelthy and could adequately think and protect my brain, maybe i wouldnt need to do that, and books may have flaws by themselves too.

reminds me of that social media trend that was flooding youtube weeks or so ago. made me think that women just casually joke a lot and autistic men take it super seriously and literal.

If Jung based his theories on the people he met in his life, even if he met more people than the average person, that means that he based his theories on a certain type of person. The type of person who might go to him for therapy or talks, or who might believe the esoteric ideas he was spouting at the time. Thus it's possible that he did not categorize all humans into types, but just made subtypes for a specific type of person. This overarching type of person is the same type that is heavily interested in theories of this kind, and whom Alive says is an IEI.

Therefore, Alive is right. We are all IEIs with subtypes. With that, I'm off this forum

Do you want Newpub recommendations or Pulp Era recommendations? The former seek to continue the legacy of the latter and I know none of you know of what I speak. One thing is for sure, if it's well known and popular to normies it ain't on the list I'm about to recommend.

Ok, so I got the book. I had to use the university library because the city library didn't have it.

Thanks Freelance, for choosing a relatively thin book. Better to start small.

Are we reading this now? Is this serious? I can start today.

Half-serious. I didn't actually think people would go for this book, lol.

Yes, 140 pages, so 1 week is enough.

A great initiative, however, I apologize for participating at the moment, because of exams , and because I completely avoid reading novels as they don't bring any real benefit to me

If one day you decide to read something non-fiction, or at least a fiction novel based on the problems of reality, please inform me then

Also, I suggest reading books that are in the public domain, for these reasons :

    Free of charge

Legal: and this is even better for people who reside in countries that have very strict copyright laws

Tallmo, I can never really tell if you're joking, but what you're saying about "trusting" me is making me feel a little guilty, in case I wasn't clear enough in my first post that my suggestion wasn't completely serious. I haven't read this yet, but I doubt it's great literature, from having read a few excerpts and a plot summary. I suggested it because I thought the book or the sanity of Canadian literary critics would be fun to discuss – or maybe it would surprisingly turn out to be good after all.

Just because sexuality and especially bestiality can inflame people, I'd like to be particularly clear about what people would be getting into with this book. シ

Anyway, unless there are any further objections, let's move forward with this!

Above in the bold we already have plenty of reasons to read it. I think that's sort of the whole point of a book club, that you can read stuff that you wouldn't otherwise read. And sometimes there hasn't have to be any rational reason. This book came to you, maybe randomly, and now we'll read it.

Later other people can suggest totally different books, for totally different reasons.

I won't participate. I have too many books I'm interested in reading to want to read anything random.

“You will take pleasure in all that is, though your bodies will break and your souls be forfeit. You will do this, and do this gladly. For I am Slaanesh, most jealous of the Gods, most demanding of lovers, and My thirst for you shall never be stated.”

I think it would be difficult to agree on a time for a zoom call when we all have different schedules and live in different time zones

Aren't most people in Europe or America? Then something like GMT 17:00 should work. Evening in Europe and morning / day in the US. Has to be on a weekend though.

A Zoom call sounds fun, but next weekend won't work for me, and it's difficult for me right now to guarantee I'll be available at a particular time. Might be best to summarize most of our thoughts in this thread, and then whoever is able can coordinate meeting times.

Force majeure. I am reading the book but still need a few more days to finnish it, because I've met this LII girl and we need to go on a picnic today.
