I think it's some overly intellectualized mental masturbation. What are you actually doing during your day that having a partner would "rob" you? Most people seem to go on with somewhat similar days, on and on, and I can hardly imagine how a partner could concretely "rob" their freedom, unless they're trying to neurotically anticipate the needs of their partner.
