Game designer David Sirlin, who hosts a blog at http://www.sirlin.net/ and has written a book "Playing to Win", on holding a competitive mindset as one enters tournaments and higher tiers of competitive gameplay. Although not famous or well known, he does write quite a bit on his thoughts regarding game design and various other topics.
