[duality is cringe]

Blastbeats, - instruments played at speeds so blistering that, when played loud enough, feel as though the Earth itself is quaking underneath your feet - combined with intense gutteral vocals can evoke an emotionally epic and overpowering feeling of animalistic, primitive aggression in the ears of a listener with the proper musical taste. The very best death metal music w/ ideals should invoke feelings/imagery of being in a hell-like wasteland, summoning an ancient deity to feed off its strength. Possibly w/ a screaming, violent legion behind you.

It's just the very best music there is.




Unfortunately, much of the post 90's DM "scene" has been invaded by creatively bankrupt imitators fusing generic, recycled riffs/drumming w/ self absorbed lyrics, spawning a multitude of sub-genres and "core" music with no real artistic value/meaning, further diluting the genre's image to the mainstream. There are still some great bands doing their thing, but the 'Golden Age' has long been over.
