Thread: Seeming more sober while drunk

Default Seeming more sober while drunk

    Type-related?

Introverts become more introverted, extraverts become more extraverted.

Also, in my case, the depressant effects of alcohol help me focus, even if my working memory gets shot to pieces and I stop being able to spin together coherent complex thoughts.

It seems like the kind of thing that's dependent on the individual. Basically what Mr. Dew said, alcohol affects different people differently.

I become more extroverted with alcohol.

It might just be non-type related.

I can't imagine how I'd be when drunk. Probably my average level of neuroticism and emotional instability eightfold.

But no, it probably isn't type related -- more related to how you hold down alcohol.

    EDIT: You don't drink Galen?
What do these signs mean—, , etc.? Why cannot socionists use symbols Ne, Ni etc. as in MBTI? Just because they have somewhat different meaning. Socionics and MBTI, each in its own way, have slightly modified the original Jung's description of his 8 psychological types. For this reason, (Ne) is not exactly the same as Ne in MBTI.

Just one example: in MBTI, Se (extraverted sensing) is associated with life pleasures, excitement etc. By contrast, the socionic function (extraverted sensing) is first and foremost associated with control and expansion of personal space (which sometimes can manifest in excessive aagression, but often also manifests in a capability of managing lots of people and things).

For this reason, we consider comparison between MBTI types and socionic types by functions to be rather useless than useful.

I feel like I am more outgoing and spontaneous while intoxicated. Although, one friend has commented that I seem the same. I think it was my ability to have an intellectual discussion with her while intoxicated that made her think that.

Lol, yes. Yesterday I met a friend of some friends for the first time, and he had no idea I was COMPLETELY SWIMMING IN BOOZE at the time, commenting to the effect when he found out, lol.

Alcohol tends to make me more extraverted and cheerful. I rarely if ever get depressed or down. If I'm drinking around a lot of people I don't know very well I usually try chatting up whoever seems alone or on the periphery, the weirder the conversation the better. So long as everyone's having a good time.

Taking into account Gulanzon's facebook posts I would say that our little Gul is indeed becoming an alcoholic, and this thread was a cry for help even though nobody responded.

... what the dicks. I've been drinking more for medicinal reasons. That's not a long-term trend. I don't believe you sincerely care or are concerned, either.

Tried actually talking to me if you are concerned rather than making condescending and passive-aggressive jabs in unrelated threads?

    EDIT

Also, binging so hard every other week that my stomach bleeds != alcoholism, it = binging.

I would say "I was joking," but I don't think that wouldn't do much. I did not mean to do any serious mud-slinging.

Having someone who has never had a drink tell you you're drinking too much is kind of like someone whose never studied military history telling you to engage China in a land war.

that sounds ... horrible actually ... eat some fatty foods at least before you drink - one of people I know used to drink on empty stomach, got himself ulcers that took several years to heal, you don't want to get ulcers

I don't drink on an empty stomach, I just notice that I have stool not unlike black pudding after some nights of heavy drinking with friends. Apparently that means my stomach lining is swelling and blood is getting into my digestive system.

Or some veins somewhere could've ruptured and I'm slowly hemorrhaging to death, if hyperkalemia doesn't lead to a heart attack first

Anyway, sorry Galen. Concern appreciated, but there's nothing to worry about. My Facebook posts were me being miserable, not me being drunk. Hence the drinking: I've been at the breaking point of despair for the past few weeks. I got better.
