No.
Although I suppose it could be argued that there is a perception that society places a higher value on certain characteristics than others.
Self esteem comes from internal rather than external validation. Also being confident in certain areas (using your example with typing people) is not related directly to self esteem (in my opinion at least). For example accepting that you are not confident with something, can be perfectly synonymous with having high self esteem.

There is a dichotomy actually, it's "Has self esteem" and "Doesn't have self esteem." It seems to be equally distributed for all types.
In all seriousness though, I would think that someone would be the most confident in their ego functions. So in an environment where those would shine, the person would probably be more confident. You can say the opposite for the super ego and super ID function blocks; someone would probably feel a bit more insecure in an environment where those functions were needed. This is probably where certain types have certain careers typically suited to them on various websites, and things like that.
But general self esteem and confidence? Nah.

I don't believe it's type related, really.
Id and superid are a bit shaky, but yeah, the ego is the place of confidence and the superego is the place of unconfidence; overall self-esteem for a person is likely to be related to how much their ego/superego has been valued in the past.
Superid: "This is really cool. Someone else do it."
Id: "I am going to prove to you that this is not important."
I don't think that either of those would affect self-esteem much.

I like how Krig put it (with my own additions)
When using the ego block "Yeah, I'm pretty badass." (Pride)
This is a persons "safe" zone, where they feel confident and almost arrogant in their ability to do this
Whereas the super-ego is "Really? Cool! I pulled it off this time." (Relief, doubt about future performance.)
A persons weak spot, where they lack the most confidence in
And yah, I think you're generally right that people tend to steer clear from having careers that require a lot of use of their super-ego.

Yeh, a self esteem problem could be figured through using the functions listed above. Socionics can only work through a minority of situations and cases however, so be careful when trying to place things neatly within the socionic universe.
I personally don't think there's a correlation.
I do think though that if someone repeatedly has their weak functions pointed out to them, it can make them think a bit more before they speak, so display some lack of confidence.
HOWEVER, i've also seen a person who worked in an environment where their ego functions weren't appreciated AT ALL, and that person was REALLY insecure about doing the job.
But I think it is better to say overall that it's not type related.
Extraverts usually have more self esteem.

This, and children whose parents are an incompatible quadra often keep their observations to themselves, or are uncertain of their ability to make the right decision. I guess that could also happen if the person's only peer group was incompatible as well - it could force a person to grow a little, but they might also feel that they have no real friends since the only way they can fit in is to suppress everything about themselves.i've also seen a person who worked in an environment where their ego functions weren't appreciated AT ALL, and that person was REALLY insecure about doing the job.
