Hello, Socionics people.
I guess I should tell you why I’m here, so here’s my story:
I first discovered the MBTI a little more than a year ago and I was immediately enthralled by the accuracy of the type description. I tested as an INTP and thought “Oh wow, this describes me nearly perfectly.” I then decided to test the accuracy of the test (the online one on simpleminds.com) by subjecting most of my friends and acquaintances to a 140 item online questionnaire. They humored me, and a short time later I had about 30 people typed, and all but one agreed that it described them very well. From there, I tried to assemble connections and relationships among the previous 30, in order to provide a useable model, but Myers-Briggs type systems are pretty limited in this regard. Little information exists on type relationships; it’s almost exclusively about individuals. I ordered books, and still nothing. Basically what I wanted from the typings, I couldn’t get, so I was forced into independent research.
So, December 2008, I stumble upon Socionics, and here it is, everything I wanted. A robust powerful system with detailed intertype relationships. And it confirmed what I had been working on, namely conflict relations and asymmetrical relationships, although I hadn’t called them that. So, for the past three to four months, I’ve been off and on learning Socionics and familiarizing myself with the terms. There doesn’t seem to be any good English books to order, but there are some fantastic sites out there, like wikisocion and socioniko. Now I'm here, and hopefully this will further my understanding.
