    rofl at the idea of me being ESI.

    Alas, as was I.

    My point mostly was that I think our differences lie with the Enneagram and possibly with subtype. This state of being isn't one of un-health for me, it's simply how I am. I might mellow the fuck out, but that's probably going to take at least another 40 or so years. I'm not particularly pretentious, by my own evaluation, but there is a performative 'on display' element to being a 3w4 that I'm very aware is deeply embedded in my persona.

    Idolatrie's first reaction after seeing you on stickam on Sunday (for us) was: 'Gilly is not a 3!'

    ahahahahaha

    Well, I'm almost definitely an Enneagram 4, so that works. I suppose I could be a 7, but any similarities to that type are easily explained by numerous elements of 4w3. I'm probably not a 3, just because ultimately I care about myself and my own self-image rather than approval from other people; other people's obvious approval actually makes me more nervous/suspicious than anything. Sometimes I can tell that someone thinks something in particular of me without them actually making a move to demonstrate it; that is actually more gratifying to my ego than anything else.

    Interesting. See, my method of typing really isn't only empathic. I do utilize my general impression of a person in an attempt to narrow down potential types, but I don't always see one typing and run with it.

    Unfortunately I have tried the method of working out someone's type by piecing together every piece of information possible and attributing it to this function or that, or such and such a quadra. I like that method, because it's easy and it makes things simple and if all of the evidence is there then its easy to reach a consensus. But in the end, with most people that's totally futile because you can never know everything about a person, or even the majority of important things about them, ESPECIALLY how their minds work, so in the end typing is guesswork and really my own impressions are the strongest evidence to me. I take them and use other bits of information and prevalent aspects of a person's personality to deduce the final type.

    And when have you ever seen my methods "defy logic?" When have you "put me down?" You sound awfully presumptuous.

    I never said anything that "defied logic" I just disagreed with you. And you hardly "put me down" although you can be frustrating.

    I only care about consensus-building as far as it relates to establishing people as useful "benchmarks" with whom to compare other people to be typed, and really only in the context of the forum; I know what typings I think are the right ones, but it's useful to have benchmarks for explaining theory or other typings to other people.

    There are definitely strict parameters for what define functions. Check this out:

    Socionics :: Information Elements

    By the way, I think you might be SLE :wink:

    Interesting. My SLE roommate types as ENTP on tests as well, fwiw I'm not sure what you mean by intuition being obvious; I think you seem like a reasonably intelligent and intellectual guy, which is what Intuition mostly refers to in MBTI and, in some instances Jung, but Socionics intuition is about something a little more subtle and not so obviously noticeable in an external sense.

    I won't bother making the case just yet, as you are obviously not going to take much of anything I say seriously, but, well, I'll let you warm up to Socioncis a little bit first :wink:

    i take you seriously, when it's the case, but when you're wrong i prefer to make fun instead of criticizing. this keeps the atmosphere relaxed, also it is not discouraging. so my amount of "seriousness" depends on what you say.
    Just like my SLE roommate

    Did anyone actually like my writing? No words of encouragement, nobody wondering if I've written anything else?

    There is no story other than that. It was originally intended as the beginning of a short story that was going to be about a lower class Hispanic guy working at some restaurant or hotel who saw the daily affairs of the rich and powerful. It was a moral story about how it's possible to be happy with next to nothing, and miserable with everything. But that's all I ever wrote.
