You know...when I have that feeling of needing hugs...I actually get really annoyed when I just get A hug. Because when ((I)) get that feeling....I want an extended hug. I want a cuddle essentially. Being held, if you will. That sounds kind of...submissive and baby-ish though...so I'm going to stick with cuddle.

For what it's worth, I prefer that too.
I kind of have categories for people, and some people fall into this category, of "if they look like they need a hug, give them a hug". This actually seems to work with *most* people. But there are some who want to be kind of doubtful, and ask for a hug, and so on. And often it seems, if I do hug them it's complicated, and difficult. And it doesn't feel right.

I have this issue where I don't like people asking for affection, or giving reasons for wanting affection, or doubting that I'll give them affection etc. It's like if people kind of expect affection, without making it a kind of requirement, but just like seem to have the impression then they're going to get it, then it's easier to give it to them. No surprises.
Also, I've found that giving hugs to people can be risky. What are you meant to do when someone approaches you, and says you gave them a hug when you met them on a previous occassion and you can't even remember them?
I've also found that giving people two hugs seems to work best. One to hug - the second to get it right.
