You color and bend the actual information to what fits best for you.
I don't make typing mistakes anymore.
Facts not in evidence.I don't make typing mistakes anymore.
i'll try to make my impressions fit on information which is too minimal. i don't really think this happens most of the time (or if it does, the information that i have often leads to the right result), but i won't deny that sometimes i tend to be a bit hasty with certain conclusions that seem to make sense but might not completely do so.
I used to type by how well I got along with people without thinking much of the functions, or just interpreting them (and not that deeply) to fit with who I got along with. I also didn't have a very clear view of what it meant to truly get along with someone in the socionic sense.

I think it's a preconceived notion of a function which prevents me from seeing the truth in someone. For example, I considered SLI for unefille, and it turns out she's EIE. This isn't because I'm an absolute fuckwit; it's because I was interpreting certain traits of hers to be related to functions to which they weren't actually related.
The amount of information I have available.

i get someones type wrong if 1: i have not met their type AND subtype before 2: they have a new exertion type i havent experienced; and particularly if i haven't met many of their types/subtypes and dont have a strong grasp of the types flexibility 3: they are in a sexual situation where their dual is coming out (twice ive typed people as their duals) 4: i have very little information.
usually i can type someone off of their writings pretty accurately.
i dont rely on VI too strongly.
any typing that i do over the internet (celebrities in particular) may be wrong mainly for the reason that i haven't met the person. i think getting a real life "read" on them is essential for typing. because of this, i sort of presume that my internet typing is good guessing, with varying degrees of likelihood, at best.
in real, if i type someone wrong it is because i have a crush on him and have decided that he must be my dual. other than that, i don't think i mistype people. if i get a clear read on a person's type, i'll type him/her. if i don't, s/he'll go in my "i have no idea" category.

they tend to be infallible, so i don't make mistakes? or i don't make mistakes, so they are infallible. or since they are considered infallible, they don't recognize their mistakes.
A lot of times people that are new to socionics do not have a very consistent picture of themselves especially with regard to the dichotomies and can easily be misled or even mislead themselves in a rather subjective manner with regard to the truth of their own characteristics - they may misrepresent their behavioral motives or confuse their intentions with their actual habits, or even just misunderstand the polarities. Most of the novices I have encountered can't seem to limit themselves to one end of the spectrum b/c they feel well-rounded, and it is true that everyone uses all 8 Model A functions to some extent. Determining which descriptive factors are most telling of a preferential imbalance of functions can be challenging, bu experience with other comparative types tends to be very helpful in this case.
