If the humour styles of each of the quadras were personified who would they be?
Delta humour = Robin Williams? I'm just suggesting that because I read somwhere that he is an ENFp.
Edit: Is humour even quadra-related?
I think so.
Alpha: chaotic humor; absurd; Monty Python, Mr Bean, MASH the movie and the first 3 seasons of the sitcom. Seinfeld, Curb your Enthusiasm.
Beta: focus on ridiculing others, or yourself. Ex: Porky's
Gamma: pointing out stupidity and absurdity of a situation indirectly; irony, sarcasm. Ex: Blackadder
Delta: funny stories about groups of people. Ex: the latter seasons of MASH; Friends, Frasier, Cheers.

I'll have to think a bit about personified humor styles. I'm inclined to say one can split quadras even further - like Alpha NT (e.g., Jon Stewart) and Alpha SF (e.g., Mel Brooks).

Spot on tereg.. The only one on the list I do like, is Seinfeld. I generally don't find sitcoms funny or anything. But, I do like Dave Chapelle.

I like all of them. lol
fwiw, Frasier was just the funniest show ever. So well-written, so well-acted. I adored Niles.....

What quadra is "Scrubs"? Alpha?

I adored the relationship between Niles and Daphne.
Fraiser is the only sitcom I actually enjoyed. The rest I appreciated, they were funny, made me laugh, but they didn't relax me, as in mentally set me at ease. Fraiser, coincidentally, with scrubs, is also the only sitcom I am able to watch online.

Beta humor imo is something you'd get out of a show like Scare Tactics

What about Arrested Development? that show is completely hilarious.

I guess for Beta, along the same lines I'd think probably shows like: Viva La Bam, Jackass, maybe Tom Green?, Candid Camera, etc etc would fall in this category.

Yeah, Jackass seems kinda beta, lol.Originally Posted by tereg

I really like the Simpsons (esp the social satire) and Will & Grace too I guess. But not really into sitcoms.
I hope Expat was joking about Porky's. Please don't tell me juvenile slapstick with penis jokes is exclusively Beta humour
Ime Gamma's can find jokes about socially awkward people hilarious, while Beta's laugh more at upstuck moral attitudes eg.

I and other Deltas i know irl seem to have agreed on liking the following shows:
-South Park (but not the gorey or overtly sexual reference parts)
-Frasier (okay, that was on the list)
-Scrubs
-Family Guy
I also really like what I think is Alpha humor (Monty Python...) and Gamma (Woody Allen...) but it can be sort of overload at times.
The main thing I notice about things that Deltas find really funny is that there's an element of randomness and subconscious psychological connections (stereotypes, for example).
Often I think that most jokes are witty, but predictable, so it doesn't make me LOL. But if you showed me a video of a city and then suddenly a guy dressed as a giant Puffin strolls down the streets and starts ordering people around, I would probably die.
I've often thought that Delta humor is like Alpha humor but a bit more realistic/less absurd. Also, I think Deltas seem to find physical humor funnier than verbal humor.

I always thought that most sitcoms of fairly normal people (Will and Grace, Friends) were Gamma. To me, they're pretty formulaic, but my ESFP friends seem to love them.
And speaking of formulaic: Will Ferrell movies. He comes out with a new one every year. They're always perfectly done- the timing, jokes, costumes are spot on- but it's not funny to me after awhile. I've always associated them with Gamma, as well.
And, I think "The Onion" is a really good example of INTP humor.
Gammas, do you concur?

No, I think that Beta humor is also about ridiculing oneself as well as others, but when it's humorous, there is no contempt about it at all.
I do think Porky's is Beta, but I think that Jackass, as tereg and strrrng mentioned, is a better example.
You see, that's a good example of what I meant with "ridiculing oneself and others". They are playing pranks on others, but often they end up looking sillier than any of their targets, and they often find that even funnier.
A short-lived, not-so-famous sitcom I liked is Ned & Stacey. I think that's essentially Beta in spirit, although with a Delta "mask". Which is perhaps why it failed.
An interesting show is Just Shoot Me!, which is essentially about Betas making fun of Deltas.

So much of humor is subjective to the person on the receiving end of it. That is to say, I can find a lot of Ne humor in comedy that isn't Ne based, and I can find a lot of humor in situations and experiences just because I can relate to them, which isn't really dependent on IMs.
Yes! I can't believe they cancelled that show; it was pretty much a crime against humanity and I think there should be an inquiry by NATO.Originally Posted by redbaron

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Arrested Development
Tropic Thunder (go see it, Robert Downey Jr. is a genius)
Pineapple Express (also a very feel good movie haha)
maybe even Generation Kill... It's only like 25% comedy and based off a true story, but that's why it's so funny maybe
Most of the shows I listed here I find varying degrees of amusing, but not really in a way that I can consistently correlate with the quadra assignments.
I second this.
I think those kinds of people are brilliant. Pruane2Forever is a prime example. Also, niffweed on his videos is either genuinely socially awkward or, in a stroke of parodical genius, intentionally hilarious.Ime Gamma's can find jokes about socially awkward people hilarious
Other Beta humour things (imo of course):
Old School
Animal House
Wedding Crashers
INFj

IMO, Gamma humor = old school; wedding crashers; anything w/ will ferrell
king of the hill = so damn boring, IMO.
South Park--not these past two seasons, but before--has some Delta humor... Cheers is definitely Delta humor.
Gamma humor: Mystery Science Theater 3000
Edit: Check that.
Alpha humor.
