Type my brother

For some reason, I cannot get a clear idea on his type. I've never been so confused by someone before...never had such a hard time typing someone. We're not very close and it's a strange relationship. Here are some qualities:


*Extremely hard worker and appreciates this quality in others, must always be active. Not comfortable relaxing--feels guilty. Frequently changes plans, very emotionally stable, lots of self control, few friends but very close friendships with the ones he does have, popular and well liked by all except a select few in the work place (supposedly, according to him but i don't believe it for a second. Everyone seems to find him very pleasant to be around), takes the initiative in intimate relationships, assumes the best of others, positive, typical "jock"--enjoys any and all sports to the fullest almost to the point of being an unhealthy obession, rarely engages in "hedonistic" activities but on the rare occassion he does, he does it the extreme..the extreme. Appears shy and slightly tense, has a content and approachable look, joking and very outgoing in the company of friends, frequently reflects on past occurances and relationships with said friends--enjoys telling stories of the past, unconcerned with material possessions, down to earth, happy, loyal, does not talk about feelings, appears deep in thought, high aspirations for self but rarely sees them thru to completion, not very studious, seems uncomfortable and tense when when things of a sexual nature are brought up, not very affectionate, modest, considers himself to be an introvert.*

I'm not sure why it's so hard for me to get a feel for his type. I tried to type him based on the relationship i have with him but it's too hard to come to a conclusion. Any input is appreciated.

What do you mean with "unconcerned with material possessions" exactly? He doesn't take care of what he does possess? Or he doesn't spend money on acquiring new ones? Or he's unconcerned about money?

Money has never been a top priority for him. He doesn't care about acquiring material things and rarely does. He works because he likes to work and feels obligated to work 12 hour days most of the time...i'd almost go so far as to say it wouldn't matter if they even payed him, haha.

I was thinking ISTJ (wouldn't that be the most obvious choice here) but something about that doesn't fit.

Uhm, EJ of the perceiving subtype. Perhaps Si-ESFj or ESTj.

I think it's possible, yes; I think that if she says he's also got some intellectual interests, it becomes the likeliest type.

Well it's really almost impossible that from that description INFj could be inferred. There is really really nothing that suggests INFj.

haha, how aren't those type related? I don't know why he doesn't feel comfortable relaxing. I think it's because he feels obligated, as if it's his duty. I really don't know how else to explain him. Like i said, I wanted to try to type it based on the relationship we have but we're not close. It's not because we don't enjoy each other's company or that we dislike each other, we just don't have much in common other than our parents I guess you could say the interaction is always pleasant and upbeat and positive but we never really getting into anything deep. It's very...light? Maybe that's because he's my brother.

When i think in terms of relation, Supervision seems completely inaccurate. But then, ENTJ does make very good sense. Do the other ENTJ's agree with the characteristics I posted?

Well yeah I could see him as ENTj, however of course not of all the characteristics are valid for all the ENTjs around.

For information, I have some ISTp friends and it doesn't really feel like they supervise me in a particularly bad way. But my interaction with them is often like the one you describe with your brother: positive, upbeat, but we don't really go very deep.

I think LSE is probably most likely. There is enough evidence for strong sensing that LIE doesn't really make sense.
