Wall-E and EVE

For those of you who have seen the movie, what type do you think main characters WALL-E and EVE are?

Personally, I think WALL-E is SEI, but could also be IEI. EVE, I'm not really sure. I think it could be beautiful ILE-SEI robot dualization, but I might be biased.

WALL-E seems to have a definite Si caregiver role in the movie. EVE, not sure; her character is a little harder to pin down. She's a little more aloof. Definitely a logical type, though. Maybe Beta ST? Definitely out to lunch with Fi, in anycase, lol.

My first reaction was definitely that Wall-e was SEI, Eve was a lot harder for me. I think I'd have to see it again to really be a judge. I'll admit I figured ILE. My LII brother absolutely loved this movie. Seriously, he thought it was the most romantic movie he'd seen. It struck me as very alpha.

I'm not sure about ILE for EVE either. Where did you see the Ne?

Yeah, I thought I might be projecting with EVE. I think I just wanted her to be ILE because I fell desperately in love with WALL-E.

WALL-E, on the other hand, seems pretty obviously alpha SF the more I think about it. Definitely caregiver, looks out for EVE, looks out for his friend the cockroach, has his little home all decked out with pretty lights and organized by theme, pretty sensitive to when shit hits the fan. He's a little too selfless for ISTp, me thinks. A little too obviously emotional. Ne-valuing in his sense of the random. From there it's a matter of fitting him into a temperament and deciding on leading functions. I think Si is the big one, and IP temperament makes more sense than EJ. He has an underlying calmness to him and it often edges towards the timid.

I have not seen it yet, so I cannot tell you for sure, but if people are seeing in EVE's ego and you claim she gets along well with Wall-E, then perhaps SLE should be considered as a type for EVE.

I thought SLE for EVE. Enneagram 8 makes sense IMO. I knew Vero would see this as SEI-ILE when I saw the movie But I am pretty sure that EVE is SLE-Ti personally. Wall-E is either SEI-Fe or IEI-Fe, probably the former IMO. I actually identified with Wall-E a lot until it came to the way he went about pursuing EVE.

Yeah, I can definitely see SLE. Again, I stand by very weak Fi in EVE. I mean she approaches things like the movie with curiosity but, well, I don't want to give spoilers so I'll leave it at that.

I'm going to say SEI (maybe Fe, but I'm not even sure that he has a sub-type) and SLE-Ti. Those are two pretty valid typing IMO.

I don't think its implausible. I mean, ILE 8s are at the very least exceedingly rare; not that that means you automatically aren't one, but, well, if you really do identify so much with being 8, it could be a sign that you prefer Se to Ne. 8 as a type is very much tied to Se.

I can't remember if you were there when I discussed this with Nick. I find that I flip-flop between identifying with 7w6 and 7w8, which is rare in most people, but I honestly think this is true for me. I have very clear moments in which I identify with either or. I think this might be a reflection of my 7-ness while being a Ti-sub. One would expect an ENTp 7 to be 7w6. It seems only natural since, you're right, it seems fairly implausible that an Ne-ego would be an 8. It's too concentrated on external results. But Ti-ENTp can often float somewhere in between ESTp and ENTp. While this often seems to manifest in 6w5 (both logically and in practice), I think it's totally plausible that this could explain why I often show traits of 7w6 and 7w8, because my emphasis on Ti mixed with my strong EP temperament (I think it's pretty clear I'm not an LII) makes me naturally inclined to place a more balancing role between Ne and Se. When I'm digging deep into my Ti cups I become a 7w8 in aggression and intensity. This becomes exceedingly obvious at work and when playing games with me. But when I come out of that and bring Ne back into focus, I tend to lighten up and present more of that 7w6 aspect. I almost wish you guys could spend a week in my life and see what I mean. I present very obvious manifestations of both wings depending on mood and circumstance.

Well everyone has both wings. Your "real" wing is whichever one is a more naturally consistent part of your personality; which one feels more like the "real" you.

In that case I'm never really sure. I flip flop between the two very consistently. There are times when I can't even imagine being one wing and other times when I can't imagine being the other. Right now I'm going through the 7w8 phase of that flip-flopping. You might have noticed that when I first came here I was 7w6, lol. I could be a 7w6 next month. Who knows.

Well, for what it's worth, you seem to identify more consistently with 7w8 (it's been in your signature for like...ever, lol). I don't think a 7w8 necessarily lacks the "playful" aspect of a w6 so much as it has a harder outer shell and isn't as willing to question itself. 7w8s are also more likely to have a philosophy of total "self-reliance," whereas 6 wings are generally more candid and self-effacing.

Yes, Gilly, and I'm finding that the more independent I become (financially, emotionally, motivationally, etc.) the more I seem to take up the traits of w8. I'm not as concerned with the physicality of 8. I don't really have a greed or pressing need for things or getting things, but that element of control is there. I strongly dislike feeling out of control. I think this is what I was having trouble expressing to Nick. I don't have the physicality of someone like Ashton, who demands attention and overt control, instead my process runs like internal clockwork and when I start to feel out of control it flares into something more inertly aggressive. More calculating and internally arrogant, if that makes sense.

And at that point her priorities didn't shift, they expanded, which is what I sort of associate with Se as opposed to Ne.

Sorry, I didn't express that idea very well AT ALL. Looking back at it, what I said was not what I meant to say at all. What I was really trying to say is that she seemed like a Ti-sub SLE. At the beginning of the movie and through-out she's very purpose oriented, but she often opens up to Fe. I'm thinking of the time when she and WALL-E *BLANK* and when she laughs at his antics and how that helps her open up more. Meanwhile she's clearly Se oriented. Scanning the environment with her little beam and when WALL-E shows her the *BLANK* and when she goes up the shoot.

my (very simplistic) arguments for ESI and LIE were:

ESI because he is a cleaning/service robot. :-)

LIE because she is on earth to get a job done, very business like behaviour,
EJ temperament. She is on a research mission.

SLE would be more a guard robot. She is researcher. (oke oke, she could be an SLE on a research mission...but still)

I actually thought of SEI for Wall-e too, but I thought a dual couple would be nicer. I'm such a romantic :-d
