Is there some functional reason for this seemingly hardwired flaw? Or is it just me?

    Discuss. Right now.

    I dunno.
Kam's got discipline...he's not all about instant gratifcation...he's doing his paper right now.

Ahh. Well, Kam is an exception. He's a paragon of goodness or something. lol But what I'll try to explain a bit more.

Basically the tendency to overfocus on a certain desired goal to the exclusion of all others, to want the conclusion of said goal instantly. Being so in the moment that even though you know you should have patience, you don't. It's a feeling of urgency. Like your world is going to crumble if you slow down.

    A problematic trait.

A functional explanation? Plz plz plz...
    Thanks for the clarification.
Hmmm. I dunno. Sorry I can't be of much help here.

Thanks for the compliment, but I'm pretty pitiful.

Anyway, I think it is our base, which is grounded in present feelings and concerns.
We want our goals to be realized automatically because we shy away from looking at future concerns. I think they call it role.

Is it not true that we are firm believers in "We will work today to get what we want tomorrow"? I know I feel that way. No need for planning because I plan for the present.

Do you mean physically or mentally?

It's the same thing in a way. We work to get our results in the shortest amount of time, which leads to rushing and carelessness. In other areas, it's just not the wisest choice.

I don't think it's all hopeless for us. We can still work towards the future by living in the present. What Kam said I guess. I don't like thinking about the future, but if you just work out what you need to do TODAY to get to where you need to go, well then it all works out. And I find that if I just put myself in auto-pilot when it comes to doing things that aren't that pleasant, it's a lot easier. If I start thinking about what I could be doing instead or giving myself options, then I'm a goner.
