Default What type is my Dad?

Sorry, this is the last of these threads, but I really, really can't type my Dad!

+ Gets stressed out if food isn't cooked, Mum's late because always seems to be running to a schedule
+ No sense of social manners
+ Has to google everything that he's no sure of - despite the fact it isn't really relevant.
+ Even if isn't lost, likes to pretend he's lost and then this gives him excuse to talk to strangers
+ Loves talking to strangers - particularly dog owners.
    + Poor logic
+ Can't let my Mum have anything - food particularly, has to have a little a bit of it for no particular reason.
+ Likes making fun of others, but takes years to recover from jokes at him.
+ If someone offends him at work, then he'll be depressed for a few weeks, or can go on further. Takes it to an extreme. He's started to use logic to solve the problem but he doesn't trust it.
+ Asks questions, states his own opinions but literally shuts down when you respond. Doesn't listen.
+ Very good at conserving money; stingy.
    + Likes keeping fit.
+ His moods, feelings... we all are made aware.

Don't know if this enough! Appreciate any advice.

Some sort of unhealthy Beta NF?

I think ISFp, but not a typical one. What I find odd is the "no sense of social manners", which suggests weak Fe. But the fact he loves to talk to strangers suggests confidence in Fe. Not everything fit but I think ISFp is best, overall. The thing about being depressed due to offenses at work, and the moodiness, are very ISFp.

Yeah, a few of the listed points seem kinda contradictory. But I can see a case for ISFp.

These points are not ISFp traits at all IMO. Making excuses to talk to strangers?? Hardly! The making fun of others thing ... maybe, sometimes - but I take jokes aimed at myself well and from what I've observed other ISFps do as well. Re the staying depressed for weeks thing - can't relate to it at all - sounds like an NF trait to me. Also, I think we're good listeners - seriously! And good at conserving money? - I wish! Money burns a hole in my pockets!

Actually - come to think of it - he sounds A LOT like my ISFj grandfather ...

Lots of contradictory stuff, but I would guess ESTp.

"Asks questions, states his own opinions but literally shuts down when you respond. Doesn't listen."

is definitely not a point for Ti in the super-id.

What do you mean by "Poor logic"?

If you respond using Te, of course it is. That's pretty much how my father behaved - would listen to my brother's (ENTp) responses, shut down when I would respond (even if, to my eyes, we were making pretty much the same point).

Do you like to talk to strangers so much that you'd pretend to be lost?

ok, that's true. edit: although I should note that an ISFp would "shut someone down" with Fe, as in "silly you...no one cares what you have to say" rather than "you're obviously wrong; stop wasting my time."

Thanks for your responses. By poor logic, this is from my opinion and I live for logic. For example, I remember a couple of years ago, my Dad says

"When we've paid the morgage off, we could rent our house out and then we could rent" - given that we live in a small house anyway, there's no point of this. He comes out with other things like this, he looks for other options despite the fact the best option is clear and cheapest. Then he lives by this routine in his head, it makes no sense. My Dad also helps out A LOT with the chores. He irons, cooks and is pretty easy going - he'll give us lots of lifts without asking for anything in return.

I got the impression that he shuts down himself, as in not wanting to hear, not that he tries to shut you down.

    I thought that was obvious.

Is that how Fe ego types respond to Te in general?

I think that in Te PoLR is more visible, but Te role types also get bored quickly when listening to a Te ego droning on.
