Default lacking restraint or lacking decisiveness?

Everybody on occasion says and does things, on impulse, that they later wish they hadn't.

Also everybody, on occasion, ends up thinking too much before acting, and later wish they had acted more quickly or forcefully.

But what's more likely to be the case for you? Or do they happen more or less with equal frequency?

Option #1. My mouth moves faster than my brain.

Another way to look at it is, "are you likely to regret decisions you've taken? Or you know that when you do take a decision, it was usually thought through?"

Option #2: ends up thinking too much before acting, and later wish they had acted more quickly or forcefully.
People around me always wish that I can speak up more and be more proactive, but I'm more comfortable adopting a "wait-and-see" approach.

I'm likely to regret making a decision even after I have thought through it for a long while because I always assume that there are better options out there waiting for me.

#1 but I wouldn't say that I regret "decisions" i've made, more like the spontaneous action(s) I took. Even after opening mouth inserting foot I still don't view it as a decision I made at the time...just something I did at the time.

I've thought about it but I'd tend for 3.

It goes like this - in matters I have problems taking decisions on - I will ponder for a long time trying to analyze the situation from every side, and then act impulsively without taking into consideration all the thinking I've done before.

i have a similar problem, particularly when it comes to spending money (after I started trying to learn how to be more responsible with my money spending habits). Nowadays though, when I find myself struggling against finding exactly what I had decided I wanted...and settling for the most immediate available, ...or unable to choose which item I want... I won't let myself buy ANYthing until I've got it resorted out in my head again.

I'm similar to Eunice in this. Often, even though I take too long to decide, I'll still end up feeling that I didn't have enough time to think it through.

So I'm not sure what to vote.
Oh, to find you in dreams - mixing prior, analog, and never-beens... facts slip and turn and change with little lucidity. except the strong, permeating reality of emotion.

Well to me it didn't happen while dealing with money but rather with amorous matters. It basically means that I tend to repress negative feelings until they bottle up and I have to let them go all at once.

I tend to look at things from every angle, so numero dos is more up my alley. I think it sometimes annoys other people how long I can deliberate over simple things like, "Where would you like to go to eat?" I suppose that's why I don't get much done.

I was a little unsure which applied to me, since I couldn't think of any good examples at first of either one, but eventually I went for Option #2. I suppose the fact I spent some time thinking about it rather than rushing into the answer kind of backs up this choice

Number one. Number two has never failed me in my life. I've never regretted over analyzing, time well spend I say. I'll know better next time.

But to explain, number two is my modus operandi, I always take a considerable amount of time to analyze my course of action. But I never regret doing it. Or regret missing an opportunity for action. To bad I say, but better to have not done it then to do it wrong. The reason I'm analyzing it in the first place is to determine the proper course of action. If I do not perform a proper analysis I might have not performed any at all. Like building half an airplane. It's no good unless it's complete. In that situation it's as if I am being impulsive. And if I act impulsively I am effectively burning my bridges behind me. Or setting myself up for a complete loss of control over my life. This way, by waiting to do it properly, I am essentially not throwing my life away.

Regarding the number one, I remember distinctly situations where an inconsideration has cost me. It's when I have failed me by being defective. Those are my moments of shame and thinking about them is painful (You could almost say traumatic). I think I've had 4 or 5 of these events happen in my life, not much really, but they are burnt into my memory forever (Which is also kind of ironic because I passionately avoid thinking about them, try "not to look at them", as it hurts to think about them, how stupid, foolish I have been, and you could say I try to forget they ever happened. But the feeling of dread/shame/guilt is just as strong as the moment it happened, even though I may not remember the situation exactly).

I sometimes speak without thinking first, especially when in a very comfortable relationship. I have regretted doing this as recently as last week.

If I regret past decisions, it's for my inaction. I can't really think of a specific instance where I've taken too long to decide. I have a habit of making the wrong decision too quickly, but at the time being sure of it. That said, as I'm relatively conservative person, I don't think that really fits with what usually is meant by 'impulsive'. Things I do 'impulsively' are essentially automatic responses that have worked so well in the past I don't need to second-guess them.

I never really regret..like stuff that I've done or said, because if I did/said it, then it probably needed to be said/did. But even if something needed to be said or did, it doesn't mean I'll necessarily do it, so that's where the regrets come in, I guess....

I had to think about this one. I went for the third option; simply because while I do experience impulsiveness frequently, I haven't done for some time now. It's very occasional. At the same time, the second option is, at present, most fitted to me. But there have been times in my life when I wouldn't have dreamed of thinking that this was in any way me.
