Ip, aka the lazy fuck-tard temperament (or at least that's what I seem to pick up from a lot of temperament descriptions. Not saying it's false though..)

lol, I almost never use it actually. Not sure what inspired me to use it there, but at least it's been put to good use.

Do those of the Ij temperament generally have the most self-control (and even focus)?

My INFj mother has a huge amount of emotional self-control. Though I would not say that she has focus with ANYthing. She's very much mentally all over the place.

capricorn has saturn as its ruling planet... it's a sort of conservative planet... such is the saturnine energy... sigh... I think it goes with Ij quite well. By conservative I mean, oh hell, I'll quote one of my oh-so-brilliant astrology books:

"Saturn is all about ORDER. About being in the right place at the right TIME. Above all, Saturn is NECESSITY and FORCE OF CIRCUMSTANCES and the LESSONS they impose, along with the sense of DISCIPLINE and RESPONSIBILITY that is behind the LEARNING OF THEM. For god fucking sake, are there enough all caps in this passage??? Saturn is about TESTING and PRESSURE, and so it can be LIMITING and DEPRESSING as it DELAYS and DENIES. Saturn is also order as it is currently understood, that is, CONCRETE REALITY, the STATUS QUO, or any FORM of AUTHORITY such as PARENTS, ELDERS, TEACHERS and OFFICIALDOM. So Saturn can be a sense of INADEQUACY or INHIBITION for the simple reason that before we have learnt what we have to learn that is how we are most likley to feel. But Saturn is a sense of ACHIEVEMENT and STATUS when we have learned those lessons well." --so says The Instant Astrologer by Lyn Birkbeck
I might add that Saturn has a stabilizing effect and that it is about earthly groundedness and common sense/practicality. Those with a strong Saturn influence are said to be good at managing their finances and material wealth to the point of downright stinginess...

    So there you have it.

Aries has Mars as its ruling planet and is a fire sign (Capricorn is an earth sign). Mars is very Se planet. It's very much about action--creative action, getting what you want, taking initiative, drive, violence, anger agression, raw energy, indepence, taking risks, blah blah blah. So I have to conclude it is of the the Ep temperament.

I forgot to mention: tradition and Saturn also go well together.

sorry to say but not necessarily. the fact that the sign is so impulsive and cannot control own self well is a very good sign of unstable temperament with EJ much more likely.

Technically I'm Cancer, but I bridge Cancer and Leo. What does that make me? IP/EJ mix? IJ? EP?

NEVER CORRELATE SOCIONICS TEMPERAMENTS WITH STAR SIGNS.

It is a ridiculous and pointless exercise. Astrology is clearly mostly shit, unlike the Enneagram, which is - for the most part - a valid theory.

My ittarius is sagging a little. What does that say about my type?
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

Astrology is a good way to determine the personality of people. The BIG problem is that, how can you convince people that your sign is influenced by the planets???
I mean, even a tv gives more influence than a planet.

my mayan sign is a bit more accurate than my astrological sign. Anyway, it's a great oportunity to make sure if there's any correlation or not.

Astrology is "for fun" in my mind. It lacks a scientific back bone. But I do like to push the bounds of my skepticism... and let things sit there in my mind with out my ruling them true or false... just accepting them as they are... possibly some time in the future something new will arise that will push something more in the direction of true or false... but right now, astrology sits in limbo in my mind, as something most likely untrue, but that has just enough pith to it to not be completely invalidated (by me).

Capricorn profiles (Capricorn being my star sign which, funnily enough, is ALSO the reason I've READ them! WOW) always make me out to be a lot more conservative than I actually am. Things like sticking to tradition and being afraid of change and the future and whatnot. Which doesn't fit me at all. I don't actively seek out change but I'm hardly afraid of it or hostile towards it.

I have something to say about my astrological sign. I see 2 kind of 'aquarius'. The scientific one and the humanitarian.
The scientific one would be ENTj or INTp (gamma). The humanist totally Alpha ENTp or INTj. So, Aquarious would be something more like xNTx. Intuitive and Logical.

Of course I am not talking about real correlations between temperaments and the date of your birth -- and no one else should do that either. I am only talking about correlations between temperaments and types and descriptions of typical traits of the star signs according to the astrology manuals. Type descriptions of any kind, including astrological type descriptions, can of course be compared with any other type descriptions, including socionic ones.

I am a Piscean myself according to how the astrologists want to see it nowadays, even though I would be born in Aquarius according to the star constellations at the time when astrology as a system was invented. I am intuitive and introverted, which fits Pisces well, but I am not an ethical type like my INFj friend, who is also a Piscean and fits the Piscean type descriptions much better than I do and therefore has had a tendency to think that Socionics and MBTT is similar to astrology, since all three type descriptions fit her quite well. But it would be ridiculous to claim that my ISTj friend or my ESFj friend, who are both also Pisceans (in fact, all four of us are born almost the same date, and the ESFj and I are born the exact same date) fit the astrological type descriptions to an even remotely reasonable degree.
