We had our semi annual entire family get together (summer it's picnics and winter is the Christmas party); about 50 people. Mike was there with us. This is a picture of my two dual cousins. They are the two standing up.

    Duals 2.jpg

It's really funny, the dual cousin standing first from the left has figured out a way to maximize her kid's experience at school in such a way where she keeps him doing activities all day long (he's hyperactive, highly intelligent and restless) and in such a way where when he gets home, he's done with all his work and hits the bed in half an hour and doesn't frustrate her with his excessive boredom.

Here's how to tell if someone is LSE: they will talk about their creation, LOL. She spoke about her creation of this idea or workings for her son to us in a joking manner at the party. Usually, both my duals gravitate and hang out with me. I guess my quiet demeanor is inviting.

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. We went to the Getty Villa today (me, my dual cousin and my ESE cousin); the Villa is a beautiful museum up top a grand hill, facing the ocean.

We went to see the Pompeii exhibit and hung out but I noticed that when we walked into this one room, my LSE cousin noticed the efficient layout and all the details and said "it's interesting how they set this up that when you enter you can see all the timelines; they broke it up into subjects, colors and dates so it's easier to walk through it."

    Back to seriousness.

When I first signed on this forum, UPD used to bend over backwards at what he called "following the morals of EII" with the complete disregard that LSE are quite high morales themselves and they don't like being told how to be, live their lives. Ah UPD, you really have things backwards, what can I say, you did produce a stock of make belief EII; oh wait, a harem of EII

    Classic UPD fallacy:

    Exhibit A.

In the above, you will see what he makes an idealized EII to be despite the fact that they aren't like this.

Some people are scummy, their actions are scummy, and yet they continue to do scummy things for reasons that are unjustifiable. Scummy human beings have low self esteem, low self value, and low self regard and need serious help.

I have a nice "boring" Delta topic:

What you carry with you / What you like to keep handy / Expedition supplies
(this topic brought to you by My New Purse, which I've decided needs some default stock)

When I'm out and about, there are certain things I like to keep in my purse/bag, not quite on the vital level (like keys, license, phone and money) but that definitely make my life more comfortable:
    - A couple of little hair clippies, the claw kind, plus a couple of thin stretchy ties
    - Little tissue pack
    - Face oil absorbing sheets
    - Lip balm
    - Hand lotion!
    - Fruit leather snacks (discovered these in the last few months - a healthy way of quickly getting something in my stomach when I've gone without food too long, plus they're super compact)
    - Tea, a couple little packets of my own selection
    - Sanitary protection
    - A couple of bandaids plus a couple of ibuprofens. Allergy medicine goes there, too, during the appropriate seasons.

In my car trunk I have:
    - A basic emergency kit with things like a blanket, flashlight, first-aid, water, etc.
    - Jumper cables and other car stuff (put there by my ESTj mother)
    - Car seat cover for the dog
    - A kit for the dog including treats, cleaning supplies, plastic bags, small towels, etc.
    - Scraper/brush for the windows when it gets icy
    - Reflector screen for the windows when it gets hot

Glove box has (in addition to basic things like insurance paperwork):
    - More tissues
    - More lotion (need to replace this)
    - And I want to get a utility knife

So, what do you like to carry with you?
Oh, to find you in dreams - mixing prior, analog, and never-beens... facts slip and turn and change with little lucidity. except the strong, permeating reality of emotion.

I made two very cute observations today. I stopped by a home goods store an an LSE mom was helping her SLI son pick out stuff for his new appartment (I now this because I commented on a lamp she picked out and placed in his cart.) This conversation went like this pretty much.

Her- LSE: Do you remember what color your curtains were?
    Him-SLI: No.
    Her: Well, your couch is brown, so this pillow has that color (pointing at the color in the paisley patter) in it;
Him: I like this other one (of the two pillows) because it's soft.
Her: Well, this has a bit of purple, unless you want to bring that color into the mix, otherwise this is a better match.

I smiled and adored her from a distance and wish I could marry her and take her home.

    Another observation:

While I was riding the pt home, this rather upset and willful SEE showed a real standing wall to this SLI man.

SLI man: you should move to the back of the bus so there can be more room.
    SEE: (no response)
SLI: move to the back of the bus
    SEE: (no response)
SLI: (moves past her commenting under his breath -Well, if some people were nicer and more cooperative we would all have more room; lady you need to shut your trap and move).

Only have things on me I need to get something done/get somewhere, so I have to get things required for, say, registering somewhere, I get those things. I go camping, I take stuff that is going to help in some way, which means I already know how and what I am going to use prior the actual event.

And like I said before, it's only cash on me when those examples above do not apply.

    @polikujm Yorkie?

    ----------------------------

I finally found a job. It's on campus at a Mexican restaurant (fast food). It's not bad, but my feet haven't gotten used to being on them that long (5+ hours with a small break). I get $4 towards a meal whenever I work, which is awesome, but I'll have to rotate my restaurant choices so I don't get sick of one.

The little puppy I posted about before, Jack, got killed by a car yesterday. I only met him once, but I'd hear stories about him all the time from my friend. I'm very sad, but she's heartbroken.

    RIP, poor little Jack.

    On a happier pet note:

    The Bunter Chronicles, cont.

Today the dryer gave signs of dying, so we had someone in to take a look. Bunter thought the repair guy was great (he thinks everyone is great), but he wasn't so sure of the big red box he was carrying. It was big... and made clanky noises... Then the repair guy (our new friend) did something really crazy - he opened the box! Before you could say "squirrels on a fence" its innards had spread noisily out over the floor. Freaky!

Bunter backed up, all the way to my legs, glancing up at me occasionally, and gave a small "Woof" in the direction of the box. I mean, Bunter wasn't afraid or anything, but didn't that nice guy know he was in potentially deadly peril?!

I dug a small treat out of the cupboard, split it in half, then gave Bunter one piece after he had approached the toolset and one after he had sniffed it a bit and stood calmly by it for a few seconds. (Our usual approach to making friends with strange and suspect objects.)

Nerves calmed, Bunter snuffled around while our new friend did human things with the big-thing-that-makes-normal-noises. He found a toy and carried it over to the new friend, hesitantly tossing it in his direction. To no avail, but that was ok. More snuffling, some observing, plus a couple of flops onto my feet.

Suddenly, new friend did something to the big-thing-that-makes-normal-noises and it shoved a big-round-scary-hungry-looking-thing out at us! As he backed up to where I stood, I could tell Bunter once again doubted the sanity of the repair man. Nothing else happened, though, apart from conversation amongst the humans and some small noises and movement around the big-things, so after a few more glances in my direction Bunter went back to nosing his toy around.

Before long, our new friend took over the situation and forced the big-round-scary-hungry-looking-thing back from whence it came! Hooray, what a hero! It's playtime now, right?! Apparently not, but that's still ok. Bunter escorted our new repair friend to the door, giving skeptical glances at the toolbox, and trying one more toss of the toy at the departing feet just as the door closed.

    It's dinner time now, right?!

Aww, @Minde sorry to hear about the pup.

You know, I've never figured out what to say when I'm told things like this. If i say "sorry to hear that", it can be easily interpreted as "keep the bad news to yourself"...which isn't what I mean. And while I dont think many people would interpret it that way (I don't)...that thought always seems to block me from saying anything.

Yes, I feel so sorry for your friend. My dog had another seizure the other day and although I know the drill by now, it scares me so much every time. Thankfully she bounced right back.

And Bunter sounds so funny! <3

Work was irritating today. It pisses me off when I am doing my work and am overwhelmed and need help, and a co-worker takes 5-10 (maybe more!) minutes doing a simple job. I have filled the little bags of chips. It does not freaking take that long. I had already communicated that I needed help, and he's over there dragging his feet. He did finally help, very briefly, and then he went back to doing whatever. The manager even called him out on not having his job done at one point. Then I was on the line (I work fast food) for about 3.5 hours before I got a break, and I'm hypoglycemic. I kept thinking maybe the manager-on-duty would relieve me so I could go eat. I finally had to say something myself. I don't necessarily want to wave my condition around at work, but I may need to; this is at least the second time this has happened, and I get dizzy and unfocused if I go too long without food. I don't want to be seen as high-maintenance, and I'm afraid that'll happen if I speak up. And then the manager-on-duty was helping me out with my work. It's not that I didn't appreciate the help, but there were co-workers standing around that he could have told to help me; he didn't have to do it himself. Finally, another of my co-workers was grating on my nerves a bit. She's not particularly straightforward at times; I'll ask if I should do something, and she'll say no or give me a look, only to reveal she was just joking. I'm trying to take care of stuff related to my job, and if I ask a question, I want an answer, not to be jerked around.

I'm also having some issues with my poetry teacher. There's a difference between telling me how to improve and expecting me to conform to her personal tastes, and she is requiring the latter of me. I wrote a poem about how I dislike the weather in this state (it changes so much). The poem was short and pulled out of my ass, so I can see how she'd be unsatisfied with it. However, she didn't ask for more detail or concrete imagery; she told me to use inconsistent weather as a metaphor to discuss something else, and how it wasn't enough on its own to support a poem. Um, no. It can be poetry; it's just not compatible with her idea of what poetry should be. And this isn't the first time something like this has happened. I prefer to write light, whimsical, or ironic poetry. I don't give a damn about conforming to rules made up by stuffy old men sitting in a musty room, nor do I care to conform to the stylistic taste of a teacher when it doesn't match my own. I don't want a bad grade in the class, but the idea of changing just to score points with her is physically repulsive to me.

Ryene, my 16yo daughter was invited to a poetry reading for this coming Saturday. I have always been surprised by the poems she writes. To prepare for this one, she wrote a new poem (she's working on her couplets), and crocheted an amigurumi dragon to go with it. I'm personally not into poetry, but I've seen her tastes range between the serious, the emotional, and the whimsical. Each time she sends in a poem, she gets asked to do a reading somewhere. This has been a thing of hers for a few years now. I fear what would happen to her poetry writing skills and explorations if she'd had, or ever gets, a teacher like what you described.

PS, I just read your description to my daughter, and now she wants to either slap or shoot your teacher. And now she's growling and cursing.

Seizures are scary! We had a dog when I was a teen who got seizures when she was old. IIRC, we got her some medicine that helped, but it was hard on her system in other ways.

Ryene, I'd love to read some of your poetry sometime, if you felt comfortable sharing.
