You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
    love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
    Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
    are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
    the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
    are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting –
over and over announcing your place
    in the family of things.

    to live in this world
    you must be able
    to do three things
    to love what is mortal;
    to hold it
    against your bones knowing
    your own life depends on it;
and, when the time comes to let it go,
    to let it go

You must not ever stop being whimsical. And you must not, ever, give anyone else the responsibility for your life.

(In my sleep I dreamed this poem)
Someone I loved once gave me
    a box full of darkness.
It took me years to understand
that this, too, was a gift.

    Love yourself. Then forget it.
    Then, love the world.

I go down to the shore in the morning
and depending on the hour the waves
are rolling in or moving out,
and I say, oh, I am miserable,
    what shall—
what should I do? And the sea says
    in its lovely voice:
Excuse me, I have work to do.

If you suddenly and unexpectedly feel joy, don’t hesitate. Give in to it. There are plenty of lives and whole towns destroyed or about to be. We are not wise, and not very often kind. And much can never be redeemed. Still life has some possibility left. Perhaps this is its way of fighting back, that sometimes something happened better than all the riches or power in the world. It could be anything, but very likely you notice it in the instant when love begins. Anyway, that’s often the case. Anyway, whatever it is, don’t be afraid of its plenty. Joy is not made to be a crumb. (Don't Hesitate)

Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
With your one wild and precious life?

    maybe death
    isn't darkness, after all,
    but so much light
    wrapping itself around us--

    Praying
    It doesn’t have to be
the blue iris, it could be
weeds in a vacant lot, or a few
    small stones; just
    pay attention, then patch
a few words together and don’t try
to make them elaborate, this isn’t
    a contest but the doorway
into thanks, and a silence in which
    another voice may speak.

And that is just the point... how the world, moist and beautiful, calls to each of us to make a new and serious response. That's the big question, the one the world throws at you every morning. "Here you are, alive. Would you like to make a comment?

But I also say this: that light is an invitation to happiness, and that happiness, when it's done right, is a kind of holiness, palpable and redemptive.

    That time
    I thought I could not
    go any closer to grief
    without dying
    I went closer,
    and I did not die.
    Surely God
    had his hand in this,
    as well as friends.
    Still, I was bent,
    and my laughter,
    as the poet said,
    was nowhere to be found.
    Then said my friend Daniel,
    (brave even among lions),
“It’s not the weight you carry
but how you carry it -
    books, bricks, grief -
    it’s all in the way
you embrace it, balance it, carry it
when you cannot, and would not,
    put it down.”
    So I went practicing.
    Have you noticed?
    Have you heard
    the laughter
    that comes, now and again,
    out of my startled mouth?
    How I linger
    to admire, admire, admire
    the things of this world
    that are kind, and maybe
    also troubled -
    roses in the wind,
the sea geese on the steep waves,
    a love
to which there is no reply?

Definitely Alpha. I'd say ESE, from her Extroversion and her being able to keep to a single line of thought (=/= ILE) and her evocative use of emotional imagery.

I'm totally open about her type and it would be interesting and illuminating to have an ESE in the pile that I really like for a fuller picture of the type, but if "definitely alpha" is based on the logic of a gamma disliking her work, I represent a contrasting data point.

No, I like her work (although I didn't read it closely), just as I like the work of Stan Lee, another ESE. My assessment was based on VI and on her style of writing. Also, I found a picture of her where she looks a bit LII, so of course, she's ESE.

Oh my. I agree with @Adam Strange. I think she's pretty definitely ESE.

Has anyone thought of ILE as a possibility?
