Here's my take on the Communication Styles in Socionics.

 

We all have a certain style of communicating with others. According to Gulenko there are 4 main styles: Passionate, Sincere, Serious, Business. I will go through how each style tends to talk or sound a certain way.

Could you post examples of each style in the future? Like actual people of those types talking, I'm trying to decide between two but native speaking samples are needed.

I was thinking it was that one, but then the spikes in tone of Business got me a bit confused.

They overlap because of extroversion, but with you it is deliberate emotional judgment. Business doesn't get carried away so quickly, passionate indulges.

Aha, I see what you mean now.

The "Sincere" example is the most similar to how I talk - breathy, silky and bemused, but with frequent changes in speed. My voice is just lower and has a wider range in volume. I perceived the other examples quite differently.

The "Passionate" example seemed silly, scattered, nerdy, anxious and all over the place. Ugh. I switched off after a few seconds.

The "Serious" example was pleasant to hear but a little reedy, dry and flat. Kind of low energy, perhaps.

The "Business" example I had a neutral reaction to, neither here nor there. It did remind me of a stereotypical "presentation voice", loud, clear and logical.

BTW, if anyone would like to have a voice chat this is a good time for me.

Ok, so impressions:

-Can't stand Passionate, shut your mouth already

-I'm melting at Sincere, soooooo cute I wanna pet them all day Basically every crush I ever had is of this style

-Serious is painfully boring, I zone out in the first few seconds, can't focus at all

-Business is pleasant, sounds alive enough but not too...whatever Passionate was. Sounds like someone I'd like to talk to

You might have to turn the sound down a bit though, I keep forgetting to. This recording will be more useful than the last one because it's stream of consciousness. It is me talking (and singing - I have to imagine the notes in my head) while I read some workbook material aloud and drink a beer intermittantly.

Hmm. I'm sure that I can get along with all styles. The main difference for me is workplace or leasure communication.

At the workplace I prefer people that use the serious or business communication style, but in private I prefer the passionate and the sincere communication style in other people.
I guess I don't prefer a specific CS in other people and the conclusion for me is: I prefer T types at workplace and F types in casual situations - or for relationships.

Based on the examples Olimpia kindly privided I can not really relate to the serious CS. Makes me doubt if my CS match my socionics type.

Here is a good example of an LII-Ne voice.

Because of the boosted Fe, the voice of an LII-Ne can lean a bit towards "Passionate" at times.

It does seem like not too many people have studied the theory about the Communication Styles.
I find it quite useful for typing, at least when it comes to those cases where someone's voice very clearly fits into one of the Styles.
Of course there are people for whom it is more difficult to figure out their CS; due to subtype, or "overacting", or Enneagram, or Gender Roles etc.
But still, when I type people, I do take into account their (most likely) Communication Style.

For example, I used to think @Satan could be an introvert based on his posts on here, but then when I heard him in voice chat, his CS was clearly Passionate.
@totalize sounds pretty much like Business (with a tiny superficial note of Passionate at times).

When it comes to compatibility, Business + Sincere and Passionate + Serious are the obvious best matches (following Duality theory).

Basically, the best matches are F + T and E + I.

Following that, the worst matches would actually have to be identical CS.
As in, Sincere + Sincere, Passionate + Passionate, Serious + Serious, Business + Business.

Because they do not provide any balance of F + T nor E + I.

For the other matches in-between, I'd say it depends on subtype.

The extroverted subtype would do better with the remaining CS that is introverted, and vice versa.
The ethical subtype would do better with the remaining CS that is logical, and vice versa.

Second best:

ExI, xLE-xe, xEI-Fe with Serious.
LxI, xEE-xe, xLI-Te, ExE-Fe with Sincere.
ExE, xLI-xi, LxI-Ti, xEE-Fi with Business.
LxE, ExI-Fi, xEI-xi, xLE-Ti with Passionate.

I think Harrison Ford is ISTx, Lana Del Rey ESI-Fi, and Angela Merkel SLI.
The way they talk cements my typings, imo.

You may disagree on the exact types, but I find it clear that Harrison Ford is IxTx, Lana IxFx, and Merkel IxTx.

The problem is the hypothesis which can and needs to get the objective proof. Then we'll can give arguments which are not speculative. You could see I said about this problem many times. And even try to get this proof.
