@ajsindri I am not sure if Mr Nobody is Ni movie. I think it is more Ni demonstrative-Ne creative-Se polr kind of movie. What do you think?

I would appreciate everyone's point of view about Mr Nobody, Cloud Atlas, The Fountain. Are they Ne or Ni or both?

I've heard that Jared Leto is IEI and I think he is a good fit in that role. It is very introspective and is essentially forecasting which paths and key decisions in Nemo's life will lead him to his soul mate, which all collapse down to the moment at the end of the film where he runs off into the woods, so he can truly connect with his step sister (forgot her name). The themes might have been made or influenced by people who were Ni demonstrative (a movie is a collaboration between lots of people), but I didn't see a strong rational focus.

Also, I liked it and was a favorite of one of my SLE friends. I've never watched it with an LII and EII, but if you do, I'm interested in their reaction.

@ I am glad that you enjoyed it, that show is awesome.

    About Mr. Nobody:

I am LII. I think Mr Nobody shows the underlying reasons of indecision by finding value in every possibility. At the age of 9, Nemo could choose to stay with his father or his mother. Nemo could choose to marry with one of those three girls. There is no right or wrong answers so that every path could be right or wrong on its own way depending on where you look at it. Nemo could alter his actions and decisions in order to change his path. He didn't choose a path, instead, he explored each path by forecasting (Ni demonstrative, Ne creative in my point of view). After all the exploration and forecasting, he says that the only viable move is not to move (Se polr). If this was a Ni movie, there would be one right path for him and he would act and decide in order to get alligned with that path.

My IEE friend also likes this movie a lot. For her, this is a movie about exploring different possibilities.

At the end, this is a movie, an art form. If different kinds of people can internalize it, then it is a good one.

Simpsons seem Beta. South Park and Family Guy seem Gamma IMO simply because the animations are profoundly unaesthetic (offends my Si Fe) as well as much of the show's crass or unethical topics.

The film Mixed Nuts was recently on tv and seemed very Gamma biased.

I really like South Park, do you think it is unethical in terms of Fi or Fe or both? In my opinion, simpsons, south park and family guy are not Ni based because there isn't any profound forecasting, stories doesn't develop over time in a sophisticated way, since every chapter has its unique topic.

It is the preponderance of crass humor that initially turned me off and I recall people being made fun of or wantonly killed off for the shock value of a laugh. Those things offend my So squeamish body sensitivity and my Fe sense of Buddhist do no harm style Right Livelihood. Not that I'm a Buddhist. I haven't seen a show in years but was always rapidly turned off whenever I decided to give it a go again due to popularity and trying not to be a snob.

@vesstheastralsilky, I can easily relate to your answer concerning your revulsion at crass humor and seeing random characters being killed off just for the hell of it.

This is exactly the same reaction I see in the SEI whom I work with. My humor was one of the first things she expressed dismay at, and as a consequence, I never try to be funny around her.
For the record, the crassness is probably due to Gamma Se, and the fact that I sometimes laugh when a character is killed off randomly is probably due to Gamma Ni and the knowledge that being randomly killed is never far from my own possible fate.

Then I appreciate your sensitivity as I am sure others would too.

I must admit I am not entirely innocent when it comes to this general topic of inappropriate humor. I have enjoyed a lot of dark humor and more Monty Python than the average bloke even if I am extraordinarily squeamish and have cringed at some scenes. It does seem like humor preferences can be very much a Quadra thing.

TV show Hannibal is basically everything I think Ni is, it's a total Ni bomb in matters of the visualition, general aesthetics and sounds. The main character is IEI-Ni imo and Hannibal seems ILI. The whole plot is based on a really dark symbolism, with hints of magical realism and it balances between the realms of real and unreal to the point you can't ever be eternally sure whether you're just watching somne's imagination or a reality. I have to say it's best audio visual art I have ever seen, it's mind blowing, extremely dark, depressing and beautiful.

Another great Ni Tv show is Penny Dreadful, the aesthetics are equally dark and surreal, and I enjoyed watching it very much. Also Eva Green in this one is the ultimate femme fatale, you just gotta fall in love her.

Gaspar Noé is an absolute Ni director heavily influenced by existentionalism and the philosophy of the late 19th and early 20th century. You can feel that search for meaning and depth while being lost in an ultimately flawed and superficial society.

I'll come up with more later.

Hannibal is one of the best tv series that represents Ni. I agree that Will is IEI, but Hannibal doesn't strike me as ILI. I think he is good at Fe in his psychopathic way, so I would type him as EIE or IEI, LIE could be another possibility. It is very hard to type a person who has severe personality disorder such as psychopathy, they may operating on an alternative system.

I could agree on him being LIE, he’s too cold and calculating for an Fe ego.

The decisive thing is not the reality of the object, but the reality of the subjective factor, i.e. the primordial images, which in their totality represent a psychic mirror-world. It is a mirror, however, with the peculiar capacity of representing the present contents of consciousness not in their known and customary form but in a certain sense sub specie aeternitatis, somewhat as a million-year old consciousness might see them.

Yuh, we need less doom and gloom and more pastel colors up in here.

See my former username for a great Ni- and most importantly, Beta as fuck, show. Also, I'm surprised nobody mentioned Darren Aronofsky yet. Mother! and Black Swan? No? Not even Requiem for a Dream? Tut-tut. There you go I love his movies but they are REALLY heavy and it's nearly impossible for me not to get sucked into a black hole of morbidity and sorrow when I watch them-- Which is why I haven't rewatched any of them.

yes, but I generally associate fuzzy, pastel and sublime things with Si/Ne. I opened this thread because I was curious about what other people associate with Ni.

South park is clearly democratic (in the newer seasons). Also Se valuing. It tends to criticize delta and beta views while being hostile to traditionally alpha sentiments. I think the newer seasons are more gamma whereas the earlier seasons are more beta.

Ditto on that. It's probably the most Ni thing I've ever seen. I absolutely love it.

My friend had me watch a movie called Wild Tigers I Have Known, which is about a gay boy. I thought it was pretty Ni--it has a lot of striking, dreamlike imagery; symbolism; and, from what I recall, is fairly nonlinear. I guess some people might see it as being more Si, though; it depends in part on how you watch it.

I'm trying to think of some other examples, but I can't right now. I probably I haven't watched enough movies and TV shows to have encountered Ni in them very many times .
