This is the kind of damage that worries me, it's clear that there has been a huge impact, which has been completely neglected. A lot of people are less affected or have others looking out for them to buffer their defenses but when someone is isolated and attacked it can be dangerous for their psychological health. Especially in a place where people come to understand themselves better through the medium of personality typing. I'm really starting to feel like we should have some kind of support in place for people being bullied.

When I watched this clip I can see a lot of eight characteristics in Escapee. Their a also little bits of nine (loyal to friends, others needs first) and five (can take everything into consideration before making a decision).
Escapee is very good at reading the signs and can search ahead the next thirty Christmas's looking at how they will go. This is currently playing out with our new son in law to be and she is struggling to see a possible future scenario with a good outcome. They get married on Friday

My IEI brother introduced me to Socionics soooo many years ago. He escaped from it, I'm still on Parole, I guess.
Oh dear about the struggling to see a possible good outcome with a son-in-law. It's sometimes hard to sit back and let the adult kids make their decisions and experience the consequences of their choices. But it's their life, and our parents probably thought and did the same about our choices, lol. Ya cant really say anything, either, because you want them to feel comfortable coming to you. Rock and a hard place.
My own daughter is 3 months away from leaving the nest, and she's totally not ready. So this week I finally put my foot down to force her to do some prepping things she has put off and put off and put off. (Note, I'm still going to help her for a while, but she doesn't know that. I think she needs to feel the crunch before she'll start initiating steps.) It's still scarey knowing that she is going to fall a few times before she spreads her wings to fly. And I am sooooo far from being ready to see her marrying, lol. You two have my sympathies.

I find actual porn unappealing because it's clearly acting, and it's incredibly unrealistic. I do get into hentai sometimes though. It's pure fantasy. There are no real people to get distracted or disgusted by.
As for violence, I go through phases, and there are many different types of exposure that have different affects on me.
-Senseless gratuitous violence that is supposed to be entertaining for its own sake, such as in grand theft auto and saints row type games. I cannot stand watching this. I try not to judge, but considering this type of thing entertainment disturbs me. Enjoying that sort of thing strikes me as unhealthy sadism/sociopathy, and getting used to it to play the game is a disturbing form of desensitization. That said, I don't forbid my 13 year old son from playing it, though I tell people not to buy it for him if he's asking for it for Christmas or a birthday as I would REALLY rather he not play it.
-Crime dramas. Sometimes I'm really into this sort of thing (Criminal Minds was one of my favorite shows for a while), but sometimes I'm more sensitive to the violence. While I was pregnant I couldn't tolerate it at all. I assume it was hormonal. I have not renewed my interest. There were times in the past that I found that watching too much of this type of thing triggered depressive thoughts, but that was a while back.
-War movies. Generally don't like them at all. They're not interesting to me, and I prefer to avoid thinking about war or the military.
-Comic book movies or shonen anime. Love it. But then again, it's all EXTREMELY unrealistic. Characters take beatings that should kill them and may even "die" and end up being stronger than ever.
-Epic war movies such as Spartacus and 300. Like em, cause they're epic. And as Kim mentioned, they're stimulating. When they get really gory I turn away or lose interest.
-Sexual violence in movies. The last time I saw something like this was in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and I left the theater.
-The news and lifetime movies. Avoid at all costs. They're extremely depressing.
-Real life violence: past; recounted in personal communication. I'm very willing to listen, and I'm likely to get angry but try to respond in a way that will benefit the victim. Listening, suggesting a course of action, attempting to help them process it, encouraging them to empower themselves, etc.
-Real life violence: present (or at least the threat of it). While I know that the logical thing for me to do is escape and call for help, history shows that when there's a threat of violence or a dangerous situation, I tend to jump right into the middle of it with whatever nearby object seems most suitable as a melee weapon.
As you can see, I've actually put a fair amount of thought into this subject. I don't know why.
What is the strange fascination/repulsion I have with this show? Just got the DVD's from a friend and everyone and myself have watched it non-stop in the evenings.
The Pros: The show is a work of art. For television, the artistic director and cinematographer have made some pretty spectacular scenes. The atmosphere, the close-ups on faces, the close-ups on hard bodies, the close ups of titties and bush, the colours, the heat, the sets, the props, the costumes, it all just oozes Rome. I just friking love it.
The dialogue is top nitch for a TV show, it's quick, non-pithy, rich, intelligent and high-brow. I will get to the plot lines in a minute, because they are pretty standard TV-drama fair. The dialogue, though, by following a few simple rules has made the show so interesting to me. For example, the characters never say the possessive noun "I", or verbs when they speak to each other. "Make promise to him", "Clear path for walking", "Put cock in ass" ect. It is interesting how the writers turned the Latin language into English so directly. The whole show sounds like an Shakespearean play and I love that. At the same time I love how much they swear at each other. It really does feel as though you are in Roman times viewed through the lens of our modern era.
The depiction of all the blood-shed and carnage is pretty realistic. Don't believe me? The other day we butchered dozens of live ducks. Believe me, blood does spurt everywhere. It's awful. And the sound effects are just as real, as I will attested to you after having had the pleasant job of gutting the ducks and hearing all the squishing. As I don't care for the violence on the show, I am still amazed that heads being decapitated is on television, but at the same time I am equally impressed by the unflinching way the shows creators depict the gruesome horrors that the Romans inflicted on themselves and others. It is a dark, dark piece of humanity, this death as entertainment, and I appreciate the opportunity to be glad we live in fairly enlightened times (at least in the part of the world I live in).
The sex, well obviously hello love it. I love the idea of how sophisticated the Roman's were, yet at the same time how unapologetic their views were towards sex. Now, I don't know if the show is that historically accurate, yet I can imagine that the way the show depicts things such as the orgies, sex in public, sex in front of the slaves, sex on the ground in the dirt, sex with bronzed gods and goddesses ect. is not far from the truth. Anyway, I believe sex and sexuality should be far more open in today's age and think that the heavy surgence of porn is a direct result of suppressing sexuality. We are sexual creatures that love the human form and I like knowing that at least once in our past, humanity was open and accepting of how twisted and lusty people are.
I want to mention that although there is a lot of gore porn, I have never witnessed the show having a sex scene along with a goring scene. Maybe before and after, but never during. Also, I think that the show is gory because the Roman gladiator fights WERE gory. When you cut someones arm off with a sword, ITS REALLY bloody. The trick here is to see that humanity is evolving every century. We do not torture each other for sport anymore. We do not cheer when a person dies. (Well, contact sports, but at least its nothing like it was in ancient times). I am sure ignorant retards watch the show and enjoy it for the gory parts. But, what can you do? there will always be ignorant retards out there. I think that death and sexuality are viewed very different in todays age, and we are not conditioned to be seeing death on a daily basis.
The relationships each character has with each other is multi-facited and very interesting. The show has helped me understand Beta's a lot better.
The Cons. I hate the violence and wickedness of some of the antagonists in the show. Maybe the quest for honor applies to me, but certainly not power. The plot line is a little far fetched. The making all Romans conniving, power hungry assholes is not very realistic.
All in all, the show is the best one ever made about the Romans on television.
