Aesop Rock (all good stuff, but I think their best album is Labor Days)
Afroman (everyone's heard like Colt 45 and 'Cause I Got High, but he has some really good stuff; my favorite songs are Tall Cans and Sell Your Dope)
Lil Wyte (this is a stretch, but it's the closest thing to gangster rap from the new south, and it's ALL about..well...you'll see )

pretty much stuff that makes me smile or "feels" good
    Amen.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

I just recently discovered their music, and it simply blew my mind out of the water. Wow.
I'm not so sure that this is Alpha anymore. The composer could be ENTj, or maybe ESTp.

yep, they're Australian and I live in Australia so I've heard them. I really like some of their earlier songs, like Souvenirs and It'5. I saw them live recently and the show was fun, but it was a record launch for their new album, which is way too rythmn-y for me, but I smiled when I saw your post cos their music definitely seems very Alpha

Australia (especially Perth) has been somehow blessed with some incredible indie music coming from there: The Sleepy Jackson, Snowman, The Drones, The Bank Holidays, Superengine, Little Birdy, and The Panda Band.

indeed, though do you by chance live in Canada? I prefer their indie music to the Australian stuff

edit: no wait, you live in the South Atlantic, USA or something... oh well

So like Arcade Fire, the Unicorns, Islands, Tegan and Sara, the New Pornographers, Frog Eyes, You Say Party We Say Die, Wolf Parade, etc.?

ETA: To reveal something of my own personal bias, I recommend looking into stuff around the North Carolina Triangle (Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Durham), because there is some great music coming from that area, especially since the famous Merge Records is located there.

that is what i was getting at. if there is an inescapable appropriation that is required in the act of understanding, this brings into question the validity of socionics in describing what is real, and hence stubborn contradictions that continue to plague me.

I'll listen to pretty much anything with the exception of Country. The whole principle of it is like anti-me.

I tend to like songs more than bands/genres. Some of my favs are:

    Portishead:
    Tool:
    Danzig:
    Manna Manna:

haha what the, I was just introduced a few days ago to this band by a friend who I think is the epitome of (irrational) Alpha.

yeah, they seem alpha to me, but I think this song is better:

edit: just watched the video for A-Punk... pretty damn cool!

Thank you Suomea, suprised anyone remembers me.

Oh, I probably should say why I like the tunes.

Portishead (pretty much all their music) brings out the feely side of me and soothes me.

Tool/Danzig - Caters to the rebel spirit within. The songs make statements even if those statements are open to interpretation. This is more so with Tool. Listening to their songs and watching a video is like trying to interpret abstract art.

Manna Manna: Geez, I don't know what it is about this song but I'm attracted to it like a moth to a flame. It makes me think of happy, safe, and carefree times as a kid. Me and my neice even do a duet to it.

I wasn't a particular fan of the songs just posted in between. I don't think they could sustain my attention.

Here are so more I like:
    Gavin Degraw:
    TLC:
    Eminem:
    Korn:

Wow @ Portishead. Your taste in music is pretty intense. Also, the wahwah sound is totally Si, though some of the other songs sound Se quadra.

Any idea of what type Gavin Degraw and Beth Gibbons are?

Intense, interesting. I like a lot of this type of music because there is a fluid complexity about it. If I'm just bopping around the house cleaning, I'll put on some pop or hip hop. But if I'm really listening to music, I never listen to that kind of stuff.

When I'm in the mood to sing, I'm going for blues and R&B.

When I'm in the mood to be provoked by music, its portishead, danzig, tool, classical.

I actually think what is often termed as heavy metal is actually closer to the classical genre than any other.

I do like music with messages though even if its an abstract one achieved through provoking emotions through sound.
