The only way I'd endure the majority of those movies is if I was with a quality, quality individual.
Posts I wrote in the past contain less nuance.

That's ok, I don't like Monty Python or the Life Aquatic. (Though Wes Anderson's other movies are awesome.)

I agree with the typings. Not sure why, but the vibe struck me as more Alpha than Gamma despite this [the anti-authority, valuing play over productiveness themes in the movie].
    Maybe 'cos they are irrational.

    Productiveness?

Yeah, that was a tossup between Beta and Alpha for me. I think it has a more Alpha childish feel overall, but for some reason it screams IEI to me.

I certainly think that an IEI could extrapolate romantic themes from the movie, but Andrew, the protagonist (LII), has a HA, as can be seen in his epiphany about his use of anti-depressants and the state of his own happiness. Andrew shows democratic qualities in his jugdments of others (his friend is a gravedigger). At the party, Andrew mostly keeps to himself, but shows signs of emotions as a result of a kiss from spin-the-bottle. Also, he is attracted to, in a natural state of ignorance of the duality, to the talkative and -friendly Sam (ESE). Sam acts as a societal plug for Andrew and provides him with much needed in a way that creates a familial sense of comfort .

Again, it is not hard for the IEI to find romantic or Beta qualities to the movie, but I am not sure if there are any real Beta characters present in the movie and the themes are quite Alpha. The sort of quirky and odd humor () present in the film is also indicative of Alpha over Beta.

Why does that matter when identifying movies that are most likely Alpha? I am able to see why Equilibrium would be an Alpha movie, but that last fight when a man's face was cleanly cut off by a katana completely ruined the entire movie for me. I unable to completely enjoy the movie, but I can still recognize the movie for what qualities it possesses.

Bottle Rocket (kakaw! kakaw! ) I think I might even go out on a limb here and say it's about ENTp (Owen Wilson) and ISFp (Luke Wilson) duality (not the actors but the characters)

that was their first movie (written by Wes Anderson and Owen Wilson) where Owen Wilson "busts" Luke Wilson out of the loony bin and they go on a bumbling crime spree. If you haven't seen it deffinately torrent that shit and watch it. It's a great movie (especially if yer into Wes Anderson  )

Yeah I saw the movie, but I don't remember the "kakaw" reference.

edit: I think I missed that part.

oh, that was the signal for trouble... like when Owen Wilson gets in a bar fight he starts yelling "kakaw kakaw!" right before he gets his ass thrown out.

sorry... I've seen that movie like 50 times

I really like Rushmore and The Royal Tanenbaums too... (The Life Aquatic not so much)

We will just switch out My Fair Lady for Delta and Singin' in the Rain for Alpha then.

ETA: I may go back and in a new post go into more of an explanation for my choices similar to how I overviewed Garden State.

In Gamma's case, isolation, yes, even in the sense of becoming a hermit -- but not xenophobia in the sense of targeting foreigners ("strangers", yes; foreigners, no  )

A good point about the sad side of Alpha, in that case I think Marie Antoinette with Kirsten Durnst would definitely be an Alpha movie, as Diana suggested to me.

I also like Alpha comedies, very much. But I tend to see as "fun but pointless" Serious Alpha films tend to bore/annoy me.
