    Default Ryan Gosling

at first i thought ISTp. looks different without scruff

    Quotes:

I never was that boy who loved gangster films, but when I was growing up, I was obsessed with the detective Dick Tracy. It was one of my favourite movies as a kid, and he really inspired me. I would have loved to be part of that golden age of Hollywood in the 1940s. It made me want to become an actor.

I always wanted to entertain. When I was six, a scrawny, scrawny kid, I'd get in my red speedo and do muscle moves. I actually thought I was muscular. I didn't know everyone was laughing at me.

I felt like I was going crazy as a kid. I wanted to be man, get a job.

I have a friend that is a WWII buff, and we sat and talked a lot about stuff like the war and the reasons behind it, and you now it's all in the uniform. Once you're in it, it usually does all the work for you.

I'm glad I have an outlet. I don't think I would put my aggression elsewhere, but working on the projects I have worked on, you tend to benefit personally from trying to wrap your head around the way other people look at the world.

I think it's more interesting to see people who don't feel appropriately. I relate to that, because sometimes I don't feel anything at all for things I'm supposed to, and other times I feel too much. It's not always like it is in the movies.

If the character is true, the movie will fall into place. Or at least that's what you hope.

The theme for me is love and the lack of it. We all want that and we don't know how to get it, and everything we do is some kind of attempt to capture it for ourselves.

All my characters are me. I'm not a good enough actor to become a character. I hear about actors who become the role and I think 'I wonder what that feels like.' Because for me, they're all me.

I like working with actresses, and I like women a lot, not for obvious reasons, but just in that that there's so much about what they bring to the scene that keeps it so interesting. Their instincts are so different, and they never explain them to you.

If I eat a huge meal and I can get the girl to rub my belly, I think that's about as romantic as I can think of.

Sometimes I think that the one thing I love most about being an adult is the right to buy candy whenever and wherever I want.... There used to be a candy called 'Bonkers,' which I believe to be the greatest candy of all time.

I think about death a lot, like I think we all do. I don't think of suicide as an option, but as fun. It's an interesting idea that you can control how you go. It's this thing that's looming, and you can control it.

I grew up Mormon. I wasn't really Mormon, my parents were.

I always thought SLI but now I also think it's possible that he's a very introverted SLE.

Edit: Having watched more of the interviews, I'm 100% sure he's SLE.

    ps- so, so hot.

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. It is a way, though, to give oneself an artificial sense of self-justification. LSE

The closest type approximation is ISTj so-valuing.

After hearing him speak horribly out of tune with Ellen DeGeneres (IEE) and dumbfounding Conan (ILE) with his one-upping jokes, the LSI typing came up as the most likely one. All of his upright, 'statuesque' poses in the photographs certainly signal that he's Rational > Irrational type. Ethical typings are a stretch for him, considering all the ethical bloopers and 'faux pas' that he commits (e.g. the second part of the Conan interview).

Edit: ran across a picture where Gosling is being compared to young Stalin (Beta rational) is his looks:

    I think he's just...male. Isn't this creative Fe/Alpha childishness?

He seems better in video than he does in those douche bag stills, maybe someone who would be fun to hang with but also annoying eventually or doesn't know when to quit. Reminds me of one of my friends.

personality-wise, he reminds me, at least a bit, of my LIE sister's boyfriend except maybe happier and not as crude. Not sure what type he is, but probably gamma SF or Delta of some sort.

Bump. He's sort of a mystery to me. Counterphobic six for sure. SLI - maybe? He's with fellow SLIs Russell Crowe and Harrison Ford lately.
The hey girl stuff --> HA?
Seems painfully opposed to emotional displays in every talk show I watched, he's like: WTF audience.
He's also paired up with IEEs all over the place.
Eva Mendes (his wife) seemed ESE to me, so might be Supervision.

The GQ interview has some Ne suggestive things in it.

Agree with @silke here (when it comes to the sociotype).

I think he's LSI. Likely Se subtype.

He seems to be a Beta type, as well as an Emotivist.
The latter aspect is very obvious in most of his interviews, which can make some people peg him as an Ethical type.
Both of these aspects speak for LSI over SLI.

    Also, 6w7 Sp/Sx.

SP Sixes project a certain kind of "warmth" that can be mistaken for someone being an Ethical or even Social type.
However, Ryan's awkwardness in social situations, which he plays off with his SP 6 charm, is a pointer at Social blindspot.
Also, he makes a bunch of contraflow jokes and statements, if I remember correctly.

This particular quote is very Sp/Sx:
"If I eat a huge meal and I can get the girl to rub my belly, I think that's about as romantic as I can think of."

But where's the Ti? I see no system building here. Him being in aggressive roles doesn't indicate Se either, it's his counterphobic nature.

    This is how communicates:

Gosling, to me, is far away from that. It's quite the other way around for him. He's far more into things that are interesting and fantastical, out of the ordinary - quadra. I don't think his interactions with Ellen and Conan are weird. In fact, he seems quite different around Conan who cracks him up with all of his absurd humor. There's less decorum, he's more puppy-like and animated by oddity of possibilities lmao
