    Default new socionics test

this is already announced in the easyTIM thread, but i figure that some people have already given up on the other thread, and i want some more feedback.

the test is located here; download test version 0.1.7 and run the .exe file. if you don't trust machintruc or i enough to run an executable, then you can also download freebasic and run the .bas file through the compiler program.

note that this announcement is geared mainly at those who haven't taken version 0.1.6 of the test, which is very similar to version 0.1.7. versions 0.1 and 0.1.5 are extremely different, so please take it if you've only taken those.

all right; taken together, all of these results are clearly not very promising. i'm not sure if i'll be able to rework this test at all. it might need to simply be scrapped.

no joke! although i do begrudgingly live with an ESE right now. i think this influences my results greatly. (have noticed the same tendency with isha, who has a SEI mother.)

Question: Does the type you put at the beginning have any bearing on your results? Also, I clicked on 0.1.7 but the results say 0.1.5?

    Test Results from easyTIM 0.1.5
    ILE : 11
    LIE : 16.19
    IEE : 8.19
    EIE : 7.9
    SLE : 9.39
    LSE : 11.3
    SEE : 6.59
    ESE : 8
    ILI : 14.09
    LII : 13.5
    IEI : 7.99
    EII : 9

    Answers : 00100110100111001000001011110010000110001000001100
So in order that would be:
    ENTj : 16.19
    INTp : 14.09
    INTj : 13.5
    ISTj : 11.29
    ESTj : 11.3
    ENTp : 11
    ISTp : 9.99
    ESTp : 9.39
    INFj : 9
    ENFp : 8.19
    ESFj : 8
    INFp : 7.99
    ENFj : 7.9
    ISFj : 7.5
    ESFp : 6.59
    ISFp: 5.69

I've bolded the types that I've seriously condsidered (since I've had any understanding of functions at all ).

Overall I'd say this test is good. I'm going to be seeing a few people who know nothing of socionics today and I'll ask them to take it and see how they score. It should be interesting... if they're in a really good mood I'll ask them to take it for me, too. lol

I have a suggestion though... I don't know how much more difficult this would be, but it would be super awesome if the test had more than two choices... either 3 so that you can give a neutral answer or 5 so that you can distinguish "yeah, that's sorta me" from "yes, that's definitely me", etc.

I've never REALLY concidered myself to be INTp...only when I was on meds I gathered all the tendencies of one and it kind of stuck with me after quitting them. What it did to my thought processes anyways.

neutral answer is not suitable, because one could respond everything neutral. at least having only 2 answers forces someone to decide what's the nearest to reality. I have already thought of this, and decided to not implement such choice system, because non-binary choices would be unsuitable for intuitive types, because they tend to under/over-estimate themselves.

it displays 0.1.5 instead of 0.1.7 because we forgot to modify one string to 0.1.7 before saving and compiling the code.

cuz machintruc and i forgot to change it from the old file.

this is sort of dealt with by the way that we handled the questions. questions that should show a very clear preference (ie "you are emotionally expressive" for ESEs) have a very high point value when answered affirmatively. however, the same question carries only very minimal weight towards, for example, EIIs.

if they'll consent to do so, have them take both, just to compare results (if you want a perfectly accurate result, wait for dmitri's test). i still think the format of the questions of 1.6 and 1.7 is better, but a number of the questions are too ambiguous and subjective.

I took 1.5 again and got these results:

    ILE : 16.14
    LIE : 20.25
    IEE : 11.7
    EIE : 13.84
    SLE : 13.3
    LSE : 16.1
    SEE : 7.75
    ESE : 11.4
    ILI : 15.84
    LII : 17.89
    IEI : 9.89
    EII : 13.4
    SLI : 11.9
    LSI : 15.94
    SEI : 7.35

I like 1.7 better. 1.5 focuses too much on the asker/declarer dichotomy and some of the questions are too vague.

that was my problem with 1.5 as well, but 1.7 is by no means perfect.

Well, hopefully they'll agree to take the test... what I want to do is have a few applications of it running at one and read the question outloud and then the group can decide the answer for each person and I'll keep track... they may refuse though lol. Especially my dad (cause he thinks I'm too into this or something), and he's one of the ones I'm most curious about.

whoa. interesting that ILI got such a high result. I can almost understand LII, but ILI sure is interesting.

I'm not sure if this is the same or different I already did but the results are similar...was there a 0.1.7 somewhere...? I need to find it..I thought this was it.

Edit: Ok this is 0.1.7 output but the results.txt file just prints that it is 0.1.5 so someone forgot to change the text.

I'd personally recommend 1.5 way over this last version. Hated most of the questions on this one. And my top four on this one were INTj, ISTj, ISTp, and INTp if that tells you anything.
These are the results for my sister and dad who are both definitely IxFx types.

    Sister:
    ILE : 10.2
    LIE : 9.4
    IEE : 10.5
    EIE : 9.1
    SLE : 9.9
    LSE : 10.1
    SEE : 9.59
    ESE : 12.6
    ILI : 11.79
    LII : 10.9
    IEI : 11.29
    EII : 9.5
    SLI : 11.09
    LSI : 11.69
    SEI : 9.4
    ESI : 7.69

    Dad:
    ILE : 9
    LIE : 9.1
    IEE : 7.2
    EIE : 7.8
    SLE : 8.19
    LSE : 11.1
    SEE : 8.19
    ESE : 11.6
    ILI : 12.29
    LII : 13.89
    IEI : 9.9
    EII : 7.59
    SLI : 12.09
    LSI : 12.99
    SEI : 9.49
    ESI : 10.29

The problem is that all of the "ethical" questions sound Fe.

If it helps, it's rather likely that both my dad and sister are Fi dominant, as is Diana... and all of them scored higher in the logical types. I think it's because the ethical questions focused on Fe rather than Fi.

not all of them are, but i can see how some of them would be. in particular something like

"you are warm, empathetic, and easily connect with people"

could easily be interpreted as such.

Yeah, around people they're not close to both my sister and dad are more the types to keep to themselves as much as possible. I could see how a Fi creative person might relate to that question more though.

I also had to explain the meaning behind some of the questions to them... like the interest vs. resource dichotomy. A lot of people who don't understand the theories behind the questions interpret them differently than was intended (this goes for just about all socionics tests).

But yeah... I'm becoming increasingly convinced that my dad is IS(F)j and my sister is INFj. My mom is ENFj and my brother is INTp. I think his wife is INFj but I'm not totally convinced yet. Her and my brother are going to live with us for a bit so we'll see. I think my sister's husband is ESTj, but ESFj sorta makes sense in a way, too.

This test gets a thumbs down from me. It picked up on a few of the types thatI have considered, but still isn't all that accurate. No better, if not worse, than the standard multiple choice tests.
