    Default ISTp clenched teeth smile

I've noticed with 3 ISTP men that they have a trait in common.

Often they have their mouths opened, but their teeth aren't opened.

This also happens when they laugh. They laugh, but keep their teeth/jaws together.

Has anyone else noticed this too?

I have notice this. Also, I've seen several ENFJs do this. They smile this huge smile where their teeth are totally clenched together. It looks like this ---> (but of course, there aren't teeth on that smiley, so that doesn't really help). It can look like a fake smile, but they're really smiling.

Maybe some types are more uptight? and that's why their teeth are clenched together like that? Where as as an ENFP my teeth would be more apart when I'd laugh.

FDG, it doesn't look weird when they do it, it's just a different way of smiling. (I just smiled at you with my teeth clenched)
    Hi! I'm an ENFP. :-)

Yeah true, I saw my ISTp friend afterwards and he does it, but it's not as creepy as I imagined

great to see you've noticed it also.

so it's probably a common trait. and an extra help for typing ISTP's.

Next time my husband smiles I'll check.

I found two photos of him smiling but the angle isn't great on either one so I can't tell.

The bottom photo of Kimi Raikonnen (or however that's spelled) in this thread shows him smiling with his teeth together.

    hmm
Well, one of my uncles who I believe to be ISTp does laugh with his teeth clenched.
I dunno if I do it though.

They do, I saw an ISTp girl do it recently.

I belive they feel so akward for smiling that they try to revert it as soon as possible, so all the facial muscles stay in tension.

lol. I do that. I don't think I've noticed my ISTp friend do that. I kinda always imagine that ISTps either are serious or they laugh. The intermediate expression - a smile - can rarely be seen.

The only thing I like about your post is the way he (the random dude in your avatar) holds his sword.

We are conflicting partners no? Spar with me, I must understand the pain and confusion socionics predicts between us.

    You, yes you ENFj.

And 'tis true that a smile be rarely seen,

For there's no trace of smile in us

    save for

The sadness of what has been.
    She is wise
    beyond words
    beautiful within
    her soul

    the sun
    lovelier than
    love
    dreams larger
    than life
    and does not
    understand the
    meaning of no.
    Because everything
through her, and in her, is
    "Yes, it will be done."

i just remembered, my istj dad is also like this. he laughs with his teeth together and his laugh is quiet, like just air is coming out. i thought that it was cute but sometimes weird since i was wondering why they were restraining their laughs?
