There are tons of fat chicks on diet and tons of slim girls who drink beer and eat pork... If there are thin pretty people out there who don't work out and don't count calories and don't plan their meals and there are fat people who are constantly on a diet, don't eat anything that tastes good and constantly go do some aerobic exercise routine, then why diet? What's the point?!

The background of the question - I'm planning to make my diet healthy and proper. As it turns out, it's not enough for me to make some minor adjustments because my current diet is almost 70% carbs (Oh, those tasty carbs, <3 ), I really have to start counting my carbs and proteins and fats and calories. And I have to eat at the proper times. This means that I should really plan my meals, know exactly how much of each thing I can eat, I have to eat 5 times per day, I have to start packing my food in the morning, I have to buy one of those kitchen scales. I have counted that right now I don't eat enough calories and it probably slows down my metabolism, so it wouldn't be a diet in the sense that most people view a diet. The problem with me is that I can never do anything in a half-effort. It's all or nothing. I either change my diet or I don't. Right now I've started feeling guilty for all the carbs that I eat, so I'm at the cross-roads. I have to decide - diet or give up and eat cookies. Today I bought cookies because they are tasty and I have an exam coming up soon and I said to myself: Fuckitall! I want cookies and that's that!

But nevertheless, I think I have to start eating healthy or something, but it all sounds so overwhelmingly difficult and time-consuming, so I'm doing research about it. If I do change anything, I have to be sure it REALLY-REALLY is worth the effort. I frustrates me to no end. I don't want to make the decision that will place me in calorie-counting stress till the day I die and consume precious time (plus the aerobic exercise) and according to what I keep reading, it might not even work!!!! Damn health specialists. They're really getting to me.

Does anyone have any experience in starting to eat healthy?
