Default Why don't slim people diet?

There are tons of fat chicks on diet and tons of slim girls who drink beer and eat pork... If there are thin pretty people out there who don't work out and don't count calories and don't plan their meals and there are fat people who are constantly on a diet, don't eat anything that tastes good and constantly go do some aerobic exercise routine, then why diet? What's the point?!

The background of the question - I'm planning to make my diet healthy and proper. As it turns out, it's not enough for me to make some minor adjustments because my current diet is almost 70% carbs (Oh, those tasty carbs, <3 ), I really have to start counting my carbs and proteins and fats and calories. And I have to eat at the proper times. This means that I should really plan my meals, know exactly how much of each thing I can eat, I have to eat 5 times per day, I have to start packing my food in the morning, I have to buy one of those kitchen scales. I have counted that right now I don't eat enough calories and it probably slows down my metabolism, so it wouldn't be a diet in the sense that most people view a diet. The problem with me is that I can never do anything in a half-effort. It's all or nothing. I either change my diet or I don't. Right now I've started feeling guilty for all the carbs that I eat, so I'm at the cross-roads. I have to decide - diet or give up and eat cookies. Today I bought cookies because they are tasty and I have an exam coming up soon and I said to myself: Fuckitall! I want cookies and that's that!

But nevertheless, I think I have to start eating healthy or something, but it all sounds so overwhelmingly difficult and time-consuming, so I'm doing research about it. If I do change anything, I have to be sure it REALLY-REALLY is worth the effort. I frustrates me to no end. I don't want to make the decision that will place me in calorie-counting stress till the day I die and consume precious time (plus the aerobic exercise) and according to what I keep reading, it might not even work!!!! Damn health specialists. They're really getting to me.

Does anyone have any experience in starting to eat healthy?

there are no such people. maybe theres one person on the news who has some weird condition that keeps them fat all the time no matter what, but otherwise, everyone who does all those things doesn't end up flab.

as for the rest of your post, just keep at it. keep trying to make good decisions when presented with temptation or whatever and eventually the good choices become habit.

i used to have really bad eating habits, and it made me sick. i still make poor decisions but only 40/60 of the time, when it used to be 100/0 then 90/10 as i started learning more (friends would say... STOP EATING IN N OUT EVERY DAY and it would start to sink in, this isn't good!) and eventually it'll be like 20/80, and i'll feel awesome all the time i imagine. haha.

I'll admit, I'm not the best example when it comes to actual practice.
But recently I said screw it, why change every damned thing I do when it's not just me i'm having to deal with (daughter and richard with their sodas and meal tastes, etc)?

I've begun asking myself each morning, "if there is only one thing I can do today that would help me feel as if I'm headed in the right direction regarding my health....what would it be?" and then I do that one thing...which usually leads me to wanting to do something else, and then something else. (I've begun similar with my home decluttering attempts.)

Mostly I'm working on more movements. This involved me picking up some easy to pick up physical games such as jumpropes, footbags (aka hackeysacks), balance boards, etc. And a pedometer to wear each day.

Foodwise, I had started to fall into the soda trap with my housemates here, but stopping the sodas and going back to water was an easy thing for me to do and it didn't take me long to get back into that habit. And now when I go into town, I try to keep my trips short and timed so that we avoid the wanting to eat out habit.

So, my suggestion? Don't try to go gungho and be perfect from the start. Pick one or two small changes to make, and commit to those one or two things. Anything after that is extras and not requirements until you pick them to commit to.

I just posted a thread on eating raw eggs...

You could do what I've done and take stimulants to lose weight. I wouldn't recommend it though. My advice:

-Drink lots of really cold water
-Avoid eating anything a couple of hours before bedtime
    -Consume lots of fiber
-Pretend you already look and feel the way you want to (it's a lifestyle after all, and you can't change your lifestyle without changing your thought patterns and the way you visualize your body and your identity)
-Pick a goal weight, and tell your boyfriend at what weight you shouldn't lose any more, because you may not know it if you're too thin and you'll keep saying stuff like "As long as I stay above 115 lbs I'll be okay" and then "As long as I stay above 110 lbs I'll be okay" and then "As long as I stay above 105 lbs I'll be okay", etc.
-Make sure you're getting enough calories
    -Have a high protein breakfast
-If you find yourself eating when you're sad, take 5-HTP
    -Avoid alcohol
-Drink a mug of hot lemon water every day (but don't brush your teeth for an hour afterwards)

I'm sure most of this stuff isn't anything that you don't you already know.

I started drinking it because of this. Hot lemon water aids in digestion and helps cleanse the body of toxins and promotes healing and a healthy immune system and whatnot. The only noticeable benefit I've had (since I have no way of knowing how I'd have healed without it) is that my skin looks better than it has in like 14 years.

Didn't you say your weights stable where you're at now Kristiina? If it is I say fuck the dieting. Just be happy with what you are. The only pic I remember of you was that one where you look drunk in a kitchen or something... But if you still look anything like in that picture you're all good. You're a mega-fine piece of Estonian tail... just enjoy it! Don't drive yourself crazy with charting out every meal for the rest of your life...

Clearly, we don't have to diet because we're better then you.

Get off this "carbs are bad" train, seriously, I thought we've been through this. There is one and only one reason to go on such a diet, and that reason applies a very small number of people in the short run and zero people in the long run.

Get some exercise. Lots of it. Go around and find aerobatics and sports and activities that you enjoy, and keep eating what you like, and you'll be fine. Just stay active. It's more fun then being a creepy sad health nut who has lost all sense of what's healthy for her/him.

Green tea is good too. It helps remove the oils from your skin.

    Yes.

I used to eat ChipsAhoy! by the bagful when younger. It would never show, as I'm a lean LII.
But having started to become increasingly aware of my diet, I could never go back to eating cookies like that, especially such processed ones.

It's good, maybe more expensive and harder to do, but well worth it. You'll saving medical bills in the future.

I have a scale. There is nothing wrong with measuring your food really. Eventually you learn to estimate the amounts. Perhaps you have some natural scale in your body but that doesn't mean others have it.

I'm saying it's somewhat worthless to count calories, and be like, "10-60-30" or something. She's just worried about weight. I say just stay active. You'll also look better that way then if you just starved yourself and got thin or something.

So why don't you give a motivation for this. Carbs aren't bad but if you want to slim down then it's generally better to cut them around 50 percent at least. If you are average weight then of course there's no need for it. Of course we do not mean Atkins.

    lol, fun posts here.

I can cut carbs to 50. That I can live with. I think. Well... at least if I can drink my coffee with sugar and if traditional meals like potatoes, slice of bread with my meal and breakfast hot porridge don't end up in the black list. And I really don't like the idea of blacklisting anything tasty till the end of time.

I've been reading those health forums and there is a new big thing - distribution 1:1:1. A person would have to consume lots of fats so that the body gets used to using fats as a source of energy. The problem I have with that is that I kinda hate the taste of fat (like in pancakes and such). At the same time, I would have to cut down on carbs, but practically every tasty thing that I know is rich in carbs. Hell, half the "healthy" things that I know are rich in carbs.

I don't know if Si PoLR has anything to do with it, but I have to remind myself to eat every 2-3 hours. I don't even feel the hunger by that time. It's a scheduled thing that I might easily forget. And if it's going to be something awful-tasting, I conveniently do forget to eat. (I know from practice). I'm going to trust Rocky (I think it was Rocky who suggested that) and just trust my body. Why eat lots of fats, which I don't like, if I can eat twice as much carbs, which I do like.

Mhh... 50(carbs) 30 (proteins) 20 (fats)... Or should it be more like 50-25-25? It wouldn't be that hard, because where there are proteins, you'll also find fats. And I would only have to avoid muesli in the morning when I plan on drinking beer in the evening.

And Bionicgoat, I think I look better than I did then. I'm just about the same size, but I've grown muscle, so I look more toned.

So why don't you give a motivation for this. Carbs aren't bad but if you want to slim down then it's generally better to cut them around 50 percent at least. If you are average weight then of course there's no need for it. Of course we do not mean Atkins.
Well, from her other thread it sounded like she was talking about Atkins. If not, minor adjusts are ok. Just don't try and get rid of most of them.

Fat or not, healthy or ill, my life would just be too empty without chocolate. I just eat whenever I feel hungry, but my diet mostly consists of wheat and fruit...and chocolate.

I've been thinking about giving up food all together. Been eating the same for years and put on about 5 lbs in the last 2 weeks. wtf. Some serious "fasting" is about to occur.

I figured it out...slim people don't diet because they are already slim.

Well they're hot! jk, the reason I thought that is because of the way you mentioned it along with some comment about not worrying about weight. I assumed you'd heard people using three numbers like that in relation to someone's weight/build but didn't know what it actually meant. lol anyways....
