I just saw P Panther again...

I am going to miss Mr Martin when he's gone.
    Legendary

(no, PP was not the best film ever, but it was enjoyable anyways. )

We've talked about Steve Martin before, and I really think he's ENFp. I certainly see Ne in his style of humor, and I also see Fi - particularly in his later movies and he wrote a book too.

Here's a quote from him where he talks about college:

It changed what I believe and what I think about everything. I majored in philosophy. Something about non sequiturs appealed to me. In philosophy, I started studying logic, and they were talking about cause and effect, and you start to realize, 'Hey, there is no cause and effect! There is no logic! There is no anything!' Then it gets real easy to write this stuff, because all you have to do is twist everything hard—you twist the punch line, you twist the non sequitur so hard away from the things that set it up, that it's easy... and it's thrilling.
    Ne?

    Anyway, I think he's hilarious.

That is an interesting quote from Martin. I'll have to try it.

I think ESE is more likely, but I can see the case for IEE.

I think Eddie Murphy is ESE as well. Chevy Chase...ILE or IEE.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

I agree Steve Martin has lots of Ne in his humor; I think he is most likely INTj or ENTp. Where do you see Fi? (Or Fe, Gilligan?)

    Eddie Murphy - yeah, ESFj.

While we're on the subject, INTj comedians? I feel we are unfairly stereotyped in this regard.

I think Dan Aykroyd is INTj.

Not going on a whole lot other than that he reminds me of m brother in law in terms of mannerisms, speech, and a general facial vibe. He could be anything.

    I thought this was funny:

From People Magazine, 20 May 2003, in which Martin was listed as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People.:

"It's very hard being one of the most beautiful people. Having this kind of beauty is actually a burden. Sometimes I go to a party and not one of the other 49 most beautiful people is there. That makes me feel very solitary and alone, because it means I am the most beautiful person in the room. If I'm going to a party where I know there will be 'less-beautiful people,' I try to 'dress down' in order to hide my beauty. But this seems to have a counter-effect of actually making me more beautiful. I guess me and dungarees are a pretty potent combination. I try not to lord my beauty over others. This is very hard. I try not to mention that I am one of the most beautiful people, but somehow it always comes out. I will usually only bring it up when I'm asked to do a task, like open a garage door. People seem to enjoy my beauty and are genuinely happy for me, because after I mention it they always say, 'How nice for you.'"

This is pretty good evidence that Steve Martin does not value Fi.
I'd like to read his book--what a hilarious man.

Hmm now that to me might indicate strong Fi because he's finding humor in various ethical situations. It isn't like he's serious about eating people - it's obviously tongue-in-cheek. Would someone who doesn't value Fi have chosen that for a humorous essay? I don't know. Maybe Gilly can say since he's an ENTp. I think an ENFp certainly would but maybe an ENTp would too? I think Steve Martin is probably either ENFp or ENTp anyway.

On the other hand, an ENTp might have fun poking fun at ethicists like that. So I can see ENTp very easily too.

Steve Martin was never an SNL cast member.
