I think it's hard to type fictional characters, because they're not *real*. But, I think if you watch them, you can get a feel for some of the stereotypical traits of their types. For example, Principal Skinner from the Simpsons (do you watch it?) talks about getting his work done before it's time for play, likes things to be more organized, he says he lays his clothes out for the week, looks up to his authorities, etc... I think some other people mentioned things about a couple of the other people on your list.
    MAYBE I'LL BREAK DOWN!!!

Good point there Rocky. The only characters where there ISTJ-nature hasn't been explained are:

Agent Smith (The Matrix) - but I guess his determination/ruthlessness would account for his type
    Mace Windu (Star Wars)
    Obi-Wan Kenobi (Star Wars)
Master Chief John-117 (Halo computer game series)

These are other, possible fictional ISTjs -
Sam Fisher (Splinter Cell computer game series)
Li Mu Bai (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon)
Yu Shu Lien (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon)

Could you help me outh on the un-explained ISTjs and/or whether those possibilities are ISTj?

    Tony Montana=ISTj?
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

I just thought that Mr. Spock of Star Trek is a good, fairly consistent example of a fictional ISTj. He's not INTj - he's ISTj.

Definetly agree here Spock is NOT an INTj. Spock doesn’t normally go around pissing off people without the intention of pissing them off. Most people actually like Spock, not an INTj trait. Agent Smith might be one though. Hell, he broke the system and made up his own and pissed off a lot of people in the process (without intending [or caring] about it). Very INTj.

Five, there is no way that the emperor of star wars is ISTj. Maybe INTj or perhaps INTp. I think INTj.

Yeah, I kind of agree. The whole religous zealot thing though, umm... But an ISTj could not have given that speech. I don't think an INTp or INTj could have either

Morpheus as an INFj does seem plausible, the more I think about it.

Does anyone else think China may well be HEAVILY influenced by istjs (in govt. at least)? For example the concept of generating a large economy as part of a grand strategy that will allow for greater support of a military engine seems very istj. Also, do not take this the wrong way, but doesn't Mordor seem very istj? Authoritarian, strict, unflinching, etc.

    agent scully is INFp!!!
is like a wet kiss on the cheek and a warm hug by a cute smiling girl.
is the confetti shots on your birthday party with all your friends.
is a way to completely rip apart the face of god and stare directly at the naked universe.

I always wondered what Helmut Schmidt looked like. I used to grow the German bred rose named after him. I think that a lot felt that Hillary is INTj. Well, I read that somewhere. From a "candid" interveiw from here I got the feeling that she even rationalized her emotions. She seemed to be saying she wanted to escape sometimes.... actually, it was kinda depressing now that I think back to that interveiw.

Russian socionists - or at least Lytov - type Hillary Clinton as ESTp. I have also heard about INTj. From my impressions of her reading long interviews, and watching her, and from descriptions of people who met her, I think ISTj fits best.

Abimael Guzmán, former leader of the Shining Path, or Sendero Luminoso, Maoist terrorist movement in Peru

This is an interesting case. A very close parallel can be made between his career and that of Pol Pot of the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia. Yet I think Guzmán is ISTj and Pol Pot, ENFj. The difference is clear from observations of the two idiots' behavior as reported by those who met them.

    Hi everyone,

I find it interesting that a thread about ISTjs dies a quick death.

Here are some more possible ISTjs lifted from previous posts of mine. The fictional ones were chosen because of their consistency in being ISTjs, as many fictional characters are inconsistent or just plain impossible (no one could get through life talking as little as Halo's Master Chief, who we thought to be ISTj).

    What do you think?

    Fictional
    Mr Spock (Star Trek)
    Morpheus (The Matrix)
    Agent Smith (The Matrix)
    Mace Windu (Star Wars)
    Obi-Wan Kenobi (Star Wars)
Atticus Finch (To Kill a Mockingbird)

    Non-fictional
    The Romans
    Jonathan Niednagel
    Christy Mathewson
    Mike Krzyzewski
    Carl Jung
    George Steinbrenner
    Gordon Ramsey
    Gregor Mendel
    Josef Stalin

I thought that all characters in The Matrix were INTp or something.
Obi-Wan?! Hmmm I must think on that one. He's always been my favorite, over Han at some points.
    Windu, yeah sure.
    Never liked Atticus Finch...=/

notice i only commented on the fictional ones....what could that mean.

Agent Smith (from the Matrix) was deffo an ISTj.

As for Carl Jung, i've heard it before that he might have been an ISTj,
While i have no clue what his type was, I find it a paradox. Someone with a Ne polr, to develop the whole story on the psychological types...hmm..

Thanks for those Rick - I guess the silence means that you’re correct.

This is less serious typing, but I think these people could be considered ISTj. What do you think?

    The Ghurkhas

The Ghurkhas have an extradordinarily selfless dedication. They are Nepalese fighters who serve Britain, and are known as first-class infantrymen, fierce in battle, consistently loyal, proud, strong, individual and tough. At the same time though, I have heard that they are hilarious people, cheerful men, proud and content to be soldiers, capable of finding humour in hard circumstances. In a sense, they are proud in how they hold themselves but humble in how they project themselves.

    Clone troopers, from 'Star Wars'

Professional, efficient, businesslike. Strong and capable. ‘Nuff said.

    Azeem, from 'Robin Hood'

Don’t quite know about him, but his attitudes towards honour and dedication, as well as his sense of humour, seemed a little ISTj-ish. He’s a classic best friend, warm, friendly, honest and helpful, but modest at the same time. His calmness, bravery, pride and wisdom seemed to ring an ISTj tone, but I’m honestly uncertain about him.

    Gromit, from 'Wallace and Gromit'

Strong, silent, intelligent, level-headed, selfless, and ever-faithful; like the people above, he’s unassuming and loyal, genuinely concerned for his master, and brave.

Sometimes I think it’s just nice to have some fun with typing fictional characters. Sure, they might not be quite so accurate, but I like it, and we have plenty of real-life examples. Fictional characters help me get a feel for ISTjs. Plus it's great to name a cool character as your type.

    Default Celebrity ISTjs

    Daniel Negreanu

There's a host of typical ISTj facial expressions in those pix above.

    True-to-type quote:

When asked what he would change about the world of poker, Negreanu says "the negative image," adding that he would love "for society to see that it can be a healthy profession: Get rid of all the bad apples, the cheats, the badmouths, the hot tempered, etc. If that happens, I can see poker being accepted more readily by mainstream society in the near future."

The times I've seen him play, I've been impressed at how accurately he predicts his opponents hands AND at how cunningly he gets information from them. He engages them in small talk, questions them on their hands and it seems like his opponents don't even realize they are giving away so many tells. <3

I don't think Negreanu is ISTj; he's far too chatty, gregarious, and perky. Though ISTjs typify the notion of a "poker face," Negreanu isn't that kind of player. He uses social skills to throw his opponents instead of calculating silence (as was alluded to earlier). He's likely some sort of extroverted perceiving type.
A clear ISTj I can think of is Dick Cheney (shivers).

I disagree. Negreanu fits the ISTj mold perfectly wrt energy, facial expressions, mannerisms, talents, behavior. Existing socionics profiles/beliefs/etc are somewhat shallow for this type. Under the right circumstances, (at least some) ISTjs can act very sparkly, animated and sometimes even ingratiating, just like this gentleman does. This happens when they're drawing on their latent ISFp undercurrents (so to speak).

Yes, I agree that ISTjs are definitely not the robotic stereotype some people see of them... I have an ISTj best friend and she is absolutely hilarious and very upbeat and "sparkling" as she said, with me. With other people she can come across as bitchy/cold but they just don't see the real her.

That first guy definitely reminds me of real ISTjs and their facial expressions.. it's adorable. I always try to imagine myself getting along with them IRL and yes, I can see it with this guy. What I love about ISTjs is that fact that they are assertive, reliable, steady.. etc. but they are totally not stiff either. They know what they want and how to get it.. and plus, they are apt to laugh at almost anything I say, which makes me super happy. I love to see them cracking a smile and it just lights up their face. They definitely share Beta humour.. I've noticed that a lot of ISTjs can go on and on just laughing about something stupid that you wouldn't think they'd like..
