You forgot "Elam". Actually a person with a fullname "Elam Bush" does exist.

Right now I'm in the midst of meeting an ISTp that I have been talking to for a couple of weeks online (oh the wonders of myspace) and on the phone, and I hope this is the hardest part of the whole process because I think he's going to drive me nuts It wasn't so noticable when we first started talking, though now that I look back I can remember it being there, but there are times where he gets completely distracted during our conversations online (on the phone he'd just end it when I think he ran out of things to say, which is fine with me) and can't multitask apparently. I'd be sitting around waiting for an answer to a question and he either had gotten a phone call or fallen asleep without notice. Am hour or some later I'd get a "sorry, I had fallen asleep" and still no answer to my question. I'm not sure if this is a quality belonging to something with being an ISTp or just him, but I attributed it to him being introverted and not sharing enough to an extravert's liking. I also think it might be him being stressed out from working too much, and I remember seeing something somewhere about an "unhealthy" ISTp, and it is certainly a turn off to me, since he shows interest and apologises but I can't seem to keep his attention while talking for too long. He also says he's nervous, maybe that has something to do with it? Or maybe ISTp behavior online. I keep reassuring myself that it's not him disliking me, but I can tell that the beginning communication and getting to know each other is really hard with an ISTp, at least as me being an ENFp. So if I had to throw 2 cents at ISTps, it would most likely be putting extra effort to communicate at the beginning and keep your space after the connection is established, or else ENFps don't think there is anything there at all to begin with.

I don't mean to generalize with this post, it's just right now ISTps are a whole new breed of people I haven't really had the chance to interact with and this ENFp needs to figure this animal out

Yeah I'd believe them. Like, if a friend told me "oh this guy is so mysterious!" I wouldn't be like "oh she must think he's weird." In fact, I would picture the guy as a male model or something. Actually, a lot of male models look kinda ISTP in my opinion and I don't think they'd have them all making that cold emotionless look if people didn't like it. Except for the department store ads...they tend to look extroverted (and pretty dorky in my opinion, but it's probalby just the particular guys).

And Jessica, yeah the poor guys are probably intimidated. So you either need a very, very confident guy, or a way to make the poor scared guys less afraid. I would go for the very confident guy, but if not, you could hang out w/ funny friends or do some activity that makes you smile, versus trying to fake a smile, which is just lame.

haha, yep...although in my experience, it's usually the very confident ones that have about 5 other girls on the side. I either attract those or guys who have absolutely no self esteem at all. I've been saying it all along, me and some ISTP guys need to hook up. No confusion and I find them quite attractive

See, the stand-offishness in ISTps (Fe PoLR) can scare people and I think a lot of it has to do with ISTp not wanting to appear awkward, but the good thing is that an ENFp guy will find awkwardness endearing. He might, however, be intimidated by too tough an exterior.

I actually think that it won't be that quiet between 2 ISTps.
I mean, they have so much in common. Err.. Ok. Perhaps you're right.

I think initially, there would be much to talk about and it would be quite interesting meeting someone as similar. I don't know how long that would last, though. hmm, i'd like to give this a try. I think it'd feel very comfortable. I'll have to put my VI skills to work and get searching over at match.com!

Wow - that's alot of stuff to read. I am a male ENFP and have only met 2 female ISTPs in my life. We are now geographically seperated since I relocated. However, the ENFP/ISTP dynamics are wonderful when we meet. I'd like to get involved here and maybe I can add some insight.

Keep in mind that socionics is only so much - someone's actual personality - of which socionics is only a small percentage is more important.

From what I've noticed, there are a lot of male ENFps who have ENTp masks on, assuming that it's usually society's pressures that men "typically" should have T qualities. At first I thought my ENTp best girl friend was dating another ENTp guy, but as she started talking about him I started to get a lot of F traits. It's very possible he's more evened out on the T/F scale, but out of most of the ENFp guys I've met, a lot of them could easily be mistaken for ENTps.

Icepick, they can't see through you! I don't get that vibe at all. To me, all of those ENFPs look like they're thinking about a warm fuzzy puppy (and that probably is what they're thinking about). I knew a weather girl a long time ago and she used to say she'd picture her cat when she was on the air, to look warmer. So I think they're all picturing their pets in those pics.

Do you mean the character Elliott from scrubs or the actress? I always thought the actress was ISFp while the character was probably ENFp.

Yeah, Elliot is her name! I haven't really seen the actress outside of the show, but that's interesting you think she's ISFp. I can definitely see her being ENFP I think. Or maybe ESFP...hmm...okay now i'm over-thinking it. But I can relate to her character.
