    Default Superstitions.

Something made me think about these today. How are they related? I say Se. Think of someone like Nomar Garciaparra (esfp) who has little things he always does before he steps up to the plate to hit (even his name is for luck... "Nomar" isn't his actually name, but it's his Dad's name backwards).

In accordance with Jung, and it could be true.

Like Phaedrus said, that's what Jung thought, and it seems to line up with the people I think are Se.

I don't think superstitions are ridiculus, I think they are a way to deal with stressful situations.

Once I was speaking to an ESFj about superstitions, and he argued that it doesn't really matter whether they are true, just what psychological effect they have on you. It makes a lot of sense, what with the placebo effect and all. Although it would be nice to have an explanation--the placebo effect is one of the great unsolved mysteries, is it not?

I think possibly + ; types would be suspicious of type phenomena, and so try to control them, types may feel objects are out of their control (controlled instead by intangible external factors) and so try to control them. superstitions are probably easier to spot than ones.

Who said it's an "unsolved mystery"? It's pretty straight forward.

I was under the impression that a physical mechanism for the placebo effect has not yet been found.

    Wikipedia research confirms this.

And that has zero to do with using superstitions to release stress.
