I think these songs are Delta:

It seems very much to remind me of Gilly's Paranoid Ni description, how, caregivers can see their love interest as the only thing they can really count on in the world. (resource protecting?).

I would imagine Si + Fi types can be some of the most severely entrenched then, when it comes to their interests.

I've just realized that people listen to about the same kind of music... as long as they're in the same age group.

But people's state of mind doesn't necessarily reflect their age and the time people spend reviving memories doesn't necessarily suggest the type of music they listen to, so no.

This is true in a particular instance but in a general sense there is a broad catagory of music (popular tunes played on the radio and television) that certain age groups will identify with across the board. I believe if a song is played enough most people, especially for the demographic that it is directed at will come to embrace it as a song of their generation even if individually they listen to their private collection of songs that most others of their age group do not identify with. So there is this private world of personal taste and a more public one that is thrust upon us which we may or may not like but which does build a bridge between us and other people.( anyone)
Here's and example of what I mean. You go to a ball game and its a very lively, close game where the fans are going wild. Your team scores a home run and they play "WHO LET THE DOGS OUT, ROOF ROOF ROOF, ROOF....." Good times . You may not even think about ever including that song in your private collection but it still brings back good memories of that game and time period not just for you, but for a whole stadium (unless your team loss and you really took it to heart  )

There's no "in general" in the matter of discussion.

Hard to say. What is it that you like about them? Their lyrics or singing didn't strike much of a chord with me. I thought the background music was entertaining though. I'm beginning to wonder what we even mean by topics like this (ID'ing music with quadras or elements), though maybe that's just me. I did like many of the suggestions laid forth though like:

Imogen Heap, Alicia Keys, Norah Jones, & Death Cab for Cutie

    To which I might add:

Katie Melua, Blessid Union of Souls, Nobuo Uematsu, and Yasunori Mitsuda

I wonder if we shouldn't approach this kind of thing from a phenomenological perspective (what it 'feels' like to you internally, what it makes you think, or want to do)? Just a few cents of mine. To you, hellothere, I might ask if you thought that any of the mentions by everyone else struck a chord with you?

Also, to those who favor country or hip-hop, what songs/artists in particular do you enjoy? I'm not much of a fan of either genre, but there are certain songs or types of songs that I like very much. In country, they're usually the slower, sadder songs (maybe the faster, more jovial ones are too Fe or Se for me?) The hip-hop songs I like are pretty infrequent. Usually the more affectionate ones that don't have chorus lines like "Soulja boy up in dis hoe" or involve annihilating someone else's crew.

Same. I only like them for humorous effects, like the Pooh video I posted.

I like Imogen Heap, and absolutely adore Death Cab for Cutie and Norah Jones. I have to say about Death Cab, that on some of their songs, I really don't relate to the lyrics (though others I do relate to). Its more the music I like.

I don't really like Alicia Keys, I guess there are a few of her songs I don't mind. Same goes for Katie Melua. I like Blessid Union of Souls but haven't heard enough to give a proper opinion.

About the National, I like the honesty and self awareness in the lyrics, which I think is also reflected in the way he sings. I love the music as well, its feels kind of introspective but then at the same time can get quite joyous (not even sure if this is delta). Generally I don't pay much attention to the meaning of a song, rather the emotion with which it is sung (and it must be honest emotion).

and yeah I'm not sure what topics like this mean either

You basically just list your favourite bands.

Fact is, I can't think of any music I listen to that might be considered Delta... it's all Alpha weirdness or Beta dramatics.

Is this topic what the writer/ performer is- what the lyrics say, or what the melody and or instruments involved sound like? Maybe it is all those things . . .

I also think Alicia Keys music (especially new song "No One") seems pretty Delta. Is she Delta???

I don't think Celine Dion is Delta, but I know several LSE-Te types who love her music.

I don't know. I'd vote 'No One' as delta-esque. I like the lyrics and the 'permanence' that the song communicates. Actually, I was thinking of this song in particular when I threw her in my above post.

I would agree that she's not a delta herself, though.

Their music is totally Si. Maybe Delta - it doesn't seem to be especially expressive.

Posts I wrote in the past contain less nuance.
If you're in this forum to learn something, be careful. Lots of misplaced toxicity.

~an extraverted consciousness is unable to believe in invisible forces.
~a certain mysterious power that may prove terribly fascinating to the extraverted man, for it touches his unconscious.

When I was a child, I didn't understand lyrics at all. When I say that, I mean that I literally didn't even understand that the vocalists were using words at all.

I thought they were just making vocal type noises just to match the music.

What does that say about me as an ISTp? Am I broken? I don't know.

Don't know if it's 'Delta,' but I like THE CLOCK by Thom Yorke.
