    Musical genres:
    1) plays & musicals (about 80% of what I listen to)
    2) pop punk
    3) alternative rock
    4) Christina Aguilera... I guess she would be "pop music" but she's the only one that I listen to in that genre, and I listen to her slower, less poppy songs.
    5) ...plays & musicals? Lol the above are all I listen to

(ive choose too much middle response I think. Generally I dont get RLUEI, I get something like RLUAI or RLUEN )

    music :
    1) electronic music, if banging, or experimental, or harsh, or mind bending (or all in one). Especially netherland free party music from the end 90's, french experimental hardcore from the same period, techstep debut (same period), breakcore , current dubstep/drum and bass productions. Oriental experimentation like filastine, badawi, agriculture is pretty good too.

    2) various unrelated "pop" stuff that I discover regularly (cocorosie, general elecktrik , funkadelic, the pack , radiohead...)

    3) classical (generally piano piece, classical classic's like debussy, bethoven sonate, liszt and less classic like arvo part, satie , ect... Im not a huge chopin fan anyway.)

    4) dad rock : doors, rolling stones, pink floyd, jefferson airplane, namedroppingnamedroppingnamedropping...

    5)

People back here always give me the "I'm not a hippie/punk rocker/crust rocker/goth/hipster, I am ME" shit when I ask them to label themselves or label them.
Only skinheads and hiphopper seem to like possess a label.

And yes, I know that listening to X won't make a part of the subculture X, but frankly, I think music tells a lot about people.

Oh yeah, I also meant the topic is also good for those most who want to reveal their taste.

Honestly Aquagraph I think people just say that because they dont wanna be called a poseur by labelling themselves. Its better not to define yourself so that detractors, be they right or wrong, cant call you out.

But I agree that music taste does reveal alot about a person.

Partly true, but poser hippies? Who the fuck, over age 18, wants to pose a hippie?

For many hippies, it's some sort of gloating about how they don't want to define something so complex as a human being and labelling is dehumanizing.

Most of the time, the ones that are pointing out posers, are posing.

My self-labels are ridiculous, inconsistent. With a common sense, they should exclude one another.
If pointed out as a poser, laughter is ensued.

I'm, according to Big 5, High Extraversion and Average all else. My "taste", or lack of lol, is really quite random. I like to listen to trashy pop to jazz to country, etc. It doesnt matter to me. Either I like the way it feels or I do not. Ella Fitzgerald, Scissor Sisters, and Billy Currington can easily be right next to each other on my play list. However, I will shy away from content that is generally displeasing or "sharp" because I like to relax, work, or have fun. In essence, I see music as a tool, which I think some may find to be a rather distasteful thought.

I don't feel like retaking the test right now for the percentages, but I am RxUEI with primary Reserved.

    In no particular order:

    1. Thrash Metal
    2. Alternative Rock
    3. Post-rock
    4. Classical
    5. Hardcore

Realistically, I could have mentioned many different subgenres of heavy metal and hardcore, but this works fine. In music, I am often attracted to unconventionality, so I enjoy a lot of progressive and technical music. A genre such as thrash metal is abrasive and fast whereas classical and post-rock lie at almost the other side of the music spectrum.

No one like electronics. Im worried. You all just come from the past, when electricity just have been invented and one guy get the brillant idea to plug is guitar, pretending an important classical musical intelligentsia background in order to get approval of their parent, or society, or 2. Na.

Looks like you have failed to read many of the repsonses to this thread, such as those by MegaDoomer, poli, and MisterNi, all of whom have at least one subgenre of electronic music on their lists (I guess it somewhat depends with poli, but a lot of video game music is electronic).

    Default Music and types

I've been wondering for a while.. Is the kind of music you listen to somehow type related? I'd say there is something to it.
I'd believe that some types are more likely to like some music genres. Of course there are many other factors. What is your opinion? Can we analyze music and how it relates to types?

TPE ego in music corresponds to a strong, focused and controlled the flow of energy, which correlates with symptoms of extraversion, rationality and dynamics.

TPE SUPERID in music corresponds to the weak, undirected and uncontrolled flow of energy, which correlates with symptoms of introversion, irrationality and dynamics.

TPE Superego in music corresponds to the weak, focused and controlled the flow of energy, which correlates with symptoms of introversion, rationality, and statics.

I don't think there's a correlation, but I think how and what kind of music you create could be filtered through type lenses.

My favorite composers have been INFj. This is not due to their musical similarity contrived with simple terms even though notable, but really I think a resonance to the level of perception they each wanted to be at emotionally. Even if I really like a Beta composer I tend not to be able to connect all the way with their music, there are some obvious perception differences.

I am also picky when it comes to what's my favorite, but have not swayed much at all. Let's just say I feel stunned by what these INFjs have brought that others don't recognize as fluidly or whatsoever. I see patterns with others and their music too, though not everyone is so perfectionistic about it, so you can't always get a good reading. I think it's a good idea to use Socionics relationships in music, mostly if you feel sure enough in your musical tastes.
