Clarification: I use that on some people quite frequently the time. Some people are just very suceptible to it.
Mostly they are people I am not threatened at all by.
Posts I wrote in the past contain less nuance.

I know one person who is absolutely obsessed with the joke. However I'm not sure about his type--probably INTp.
uh...what's the joke? like "your mother was good last night" or something?
entp humor is a little bit in your face and irreverant. plays on not behaving properly, being obnoxious, word play. entp's love to laugh and make other people laugh, usually by noting rules of a situation and how they may be successfully broken. Looking at the opposing side of something and drawing it to its most extreme. Or dead pan.

Yes, in grade school I used to have competitions with an ENTP about whol could make the most fun of each others mother. His mother was ESFP, mine ISFP. We used to discuss that for hours, he loved it.Originally Posted by eliphalet

So yeah, its not that funny typed out like that, but at unexpected moments, and like Blaze said, in your face and obnoxious-like.

I do this with a slight variation - instead of 'Your mother', I say 'Your face' in the style of Mr T. E.g. if someone says 'this won't work', I say 'your face says this won't work'. After a dozen times or so, I think people learn not to be offended.

Now how would you characterize the differences of humoristic styles between the ENTp and the INTj? I ask this because I can see some of my humor being similar to the ENTp style listed thus far (not so much the "your mother" aspect, but the other stuff certainly).

Quadra members, and especially mirror partners, have very similar senses of humor. How they make humor is more distinct than what they appreciate in it.Originally Posted by Logos
One difference is that ENTps actively joke more easily; INTjs work off others' statements more, pointing out funny things. INTjs also aren't as quick on their feet as ENTps; it's easier for me to be funny online because I have time to prepare.
ENTp humor is generally more irreverent & anti-Fi. INTjs are more self-deprecating. I think this is a consequence of Negativism. IME there is a very good correlation.
Instead of one-up-manship, INTjs seem to play one-down-manship IME. I think both tend to make fun out of other people's quirks + beliefs, but tend to poke fun at themselves too.

Lately this has been my joke:
In response to somebody talking about some specific, unusual topic/thing/whatever.
"You know what they say about (insert the specific unusual topic/thing nobody ever really talks about)...."
It tends to make people second guess themselves or search their memories for some old proverb, which I like.
whenever the dog and i see each other we both stop where we are. we regard each other with a mixture of sadness and suspicion and then we feign indifference.
Jerry, The Zoo Story by Edward Albee
From my personal experience, this would seem to be the case. And it is a "gift" which my friends and family have come to appreciate, since it is basically pointing out the obvious personal quirks which they are afraid to say.Originally Posted by Subterranean

I'm an INTJ, however I can certainly succumb to a well placed 'your mom' joke.
More likely than not it's because I'm a high schooler.
Ignore.
"Yo Momma" jokes, I have often wondered what sort of people enjoy these jokes. I really dislike and have no real understanding or respect for "yo momma" jokes. They cause me extreme discomfort and they seem sort of crude and uncreative.

Mentalis Uber Alles !
ENTp are good at finding defects and like to ridicule others for it. They are selective about who they use this ability with. If they for some reason don't like/respect you, will try to "expose" you.
My sister and I don't get along that much. I'm delta (more mature minded) and she is alpha (more child-like minded) so in my house my parents respect me more than her and she doesn't forgive me that because (in her view) I say a lot of nonsense. She obviously detects a lot of Ti inconsistencies in what I do and say (or probably doesn't understand well Fi, if you want to look at it from another perspective). Thing is, we hit each other's PoLR often. Since she's blunt to me I return the ball criticizing her for being an asshole. The problem is that I have much more control over my own emotions than her and if we have an argument I almost always end up wining it (she starts to cry and all).
So maybe I'm a bit prejudiced, but ENTp humor can be considered "cruel".

mikemex, the relation you're describing with your sister is called comparative and she's probably reacting to the undeserved respect you get from your parents simply because you are male.
